Also, don't forget to check the 'About Us' on JK's website.  http://www.jkproducts.com/en/content/4-about-us

Going to the slot car store's counter on Monday - to pickup the parts that won over the weekend -  are long gone, at least the three years I been looking...

This will be good for slot cars in Florida, now you can run anything. Ha-ha .

I'm gonna make some computer green board flexi pans available direct - prices will vary LOL.

The times they are a changing!

As a former track owner, this would have definitely affected what we stocked on the wall. Johnny and I both worked day jobs and neither of us had time to order directly from every manufacturer.

Can you imagine if the whole hobby goes this route (which is certainly possible - maybe probable) and now raceways are ordering five bodies from three or four companies, three pair of tires from another company, braid from two or three other companies... etc., etc???

And, the raceway would have had to pay shipping on all of them instead of getting free shipping by reaching a minimum total order amount from the distributor. Ouch! I assure you those costs would get passed along to the racer.

If I had a raceway today, the wall would begin to look very different. Not because I like or dislike any particular manufacturer, but purely out of doing what is easy. For example, we could have just as easily made Alpha tires the "house" tire.

I'm sure he will not have the same price to a raceway he did to the distributors?

Here is an interesting twist. Individual racers may sign up (register) to purchase directly from JK. When you sign up you must choose a local raceway to complete your registration. JK will credit the local raceway chosen with 15% of the value of the racers direct purchases from JK. This is a novel idea for a manufacturer (JK) to share their margins on direct sales with a designated local raceway.

You guys are reading ahead... I'll try to have more tomorrow.

I felt I should notify the distributors first and it's a little disappointing they chose to share that private communication.

Parts must be available through a direct distributor.

Florida's "sacred" rule for at least a decade. It's set in stone.

Hopefully this is all fake news. I'll be sad if true.

I don't see the need for the panic that is being posted here. Slot car life will go on with some adjustments. Slot car racing has gone through many changes over the last 55 to 60 years (longer than most of the posters here).

I'm sure it will all be worked out.

I'm just pointing out the obvious.

It looks like a "sacred" rule that has been around for a decade will have to be amended.

Just pointing out the obvious. Whats going on. No biggie to me.

Why not?

Wasn't 3.25" just amended for the benefit of one manufacturer? LOL.

Thats why I posted looks like a rule amendment coming. No biggie. Just pointing out the obvious.

I thought it should of changed a long time ago.

It was considerd blasphemy when I said it. I guess times do change. It just takes the right circumstances to make the change. We know why. 😎

In a 24/7 world with instant payment methods and next day shipping options. You're telling me that a 1950s business model don't work?

When someone can be at a race and part is not on the wall can go on their phone order the product and have it delivered next day to their house or even the track...

Every placed orders through your local raceway and the next week you hear the distributor is "out of stock" or on backorder?

OCC has three classes and 76 body choices (example only). What track wants to stock that so you can have your pick? What distributor wants to stock that many only to get stuck with dead stock? What racer wants or needs to sort through that many options? ISRA gets by just fine with one body per class on a three-year rotational basis.

I while back I had an email from a very respected racer that said it really well. It said in part, "When the last raceway in the US closes it will not be due to equipment lacking. It will be due to the lack of racers willing to spend more and more money on equipment. "Hot part" of the week racing will last a short time before the racers decide to stay home because they can never find the right combination.  It's a waste of money to keep running newer and newer equipment on wide-open dyno tracks with $10 motors.

Everyone needs to look in the mirror.  This website is full of why don't anyone race any more, what do we need to do to get new people involved threads. Think back when you were a kid and could not wait to get to the track. Now think back if you would still be around with all the choices and costs that confront a beginner today. Too many classes, too many choices, too many options, not enough stability make the decision easy for a beginner to not get involved.

How many manufacturers had chassis wider than 3.25"?

So a rule was amended, so all the Defenders, could race?

It sounds like all your rhetoric, that the rules makers just cater to JK, is unfounded.
