One last project I hope to finish soon.
In 1969 I bought a '57 oval window VW (one of three over the years) from my brother with the hopes of hot rodding it. My brother Wily was quite the craftsman. He designed and built an intake manifold for my 1600cc VW to accommodate a 40mm side draft Weber carburetor.
There wasn't much room under the hood so the obvious step was to put a hole in it! The picture was taken the day we got it running with this big carb hanging out the rear. Needless to say it was quick! There weren't too many people wanting to race me, just the sight of this Weber sticking out of the rear deck was enough to scare them off!
Unfortunately these are the last surviving pictures I have and none of the custom manifold or the finished car.
