Has anyone used one of the dynos that are available on EBay? Are they worth it?

Buy one and tell us!!
Looks just like a rolling road to me, looking at the controls I don't think it has a way of assessing a slotcar motors' mousepower or newton-millimetres

I doubt it has any real value as a test bed. It is not a true dyno , so the info you get from it would be questionable at best. If you read the blurb the guy makes it sound as if he developed the thing, yet it says Tamiya right on it. Smells a bit fishy to me.

My dyno is based on the tamiya. I have been using it for 7 years. 99% of the time it's right on the money.

Tony, can you send me a link to where I can get info? I believe the one on eBay reads some sort of speed. I was thinking it'd work great for one of our classes that is a spec class. We have spec gearing, motor, tires, and everything. We use the PS4001 motor, which I find to be a toss up as to if it's decent or a turd. I thought maybe this would be a way to test them without having to try them on track.

Tony,

Is yours a chassis or motor dyno?

I use and old trinity motors Mayer horsepower dyno to break in motors and get a free rev rpm and amp rate. I also use it to power chassis dyno. The converted KYOSHO when used with weighted rear wheels for load gives me a number. By using this number and amp draw from trinity dyno I can see which motors are slugs and which will run good. Saves lots of practice time on race mornings changing motors.

I had read that. Are you speaking of the Micro Dyne or the one that starts the thread? For some reason the video on the first post won't play on my phone. I'll check to see if it works on my computer.

Yeah for sure... forgive me for my ignorance...I've been out of the game for a while. I just know I'd like to weed out the turd 4001's and Hawk 7's before I get to the track.
