I thought it was posted here this track had suffered some water damage after a roof leak a couple years back. This was a popular Ohio raceway, but it never opened back up after the roof leak.

Water damage is not like a broken leg for a horse. Each area of damage might need a bit of practical woodworking and Bondo application. Most used tracks need some repairs to make them like new again.

One picture shows the "deadman" where the "finger" should be.  Looks like a more recent picture, probably just staged for the listing. Most of the other pictures look like they are from when it was in a shop.

I PM'd the lister to ask if there had been any water damage. He responded that there was no damage whatsoever. He also stated that I should ask no more stupid questions!

The story always was that the track closed due to water damage, and was to be repaired for series races.

Sounds like a pretty reasonable question to ask as far as I am concerned!

Yes, this is the track that was formerly at REM Raceway in Mentor, OH. Pretty sure the pic in post #1 is one I took when I visited there when it was in operation.

That pic was taken while it was in operation. This IMO when it was up and running was one of the nicest tracks in Ohio. Very, very smooth.

I also know where it sits now is in the same room as the pic shown just not put together, temp controlled, etc.

Did REM only have one track? I remember the post about the water damage and thought the track was red, but who knows.

He says there are no issues so lets hope for the best as I am currently the high bidder.

Wow.

"Don't ask anymore stupid questions".

Sounds like the track is smoother than the owner.
Hope damage assessment, doesn't equal his people skills.

Matt,

When I visited REM, it was definitely the color shown in the first post. As I said, I believe that is a picture I took on the one visit I made to REM after attending the R4, but I don't I don't insist on it.

And, yes, REM only had a single track, co-located with an automotive paint supplier in an adjacent room, where it barely fit, as the pic should show.

Hope you get it, as I believe it is a great track, although I didn't make a lap on it.

"Don't email me again, don't have time for your games" after I told him I was just asking because of comments on the internet.

I messaged him because of your post, Don.

This track is being discussed HERE

You're probably scaring off potential bidders with your rude responses.
Just thought I'd let you know.

Here's  his response:

"Another person that has his or her nose where it should not be.

Keep your comments to yourself // Since they are worthless at best.

Don't email me agiainor I will contact eBay."

Wow! I guess his eBay name "remmen" means he owned REM Raceway? So I guess some of you guys know him?

Its obvious why he's a track owner,
Not a track operator...

Thanks to the real track owner/operators out there who make it fun. There are reasons why you are still in business... and blah blah blah isn't.

Ray who owed the track is actually a really nice guy, but old school where his business is his business. As far as how you are treated at a race, Ray was in the top 3, for me anyway. I stopped by his store and saw the track a few months back. As Willy said, the track is apart sitting in a dry AC/Heated room waiting on a new owner. Looks to be in great shape. I asked about the water damage and said, "There's nothing wrong with the track at all."

Running at REM was always a favorite for many. Ray made everyone comfy, good food, well run races, and fun had by all. A couple seasons ago there was a couple racers that got into a fight at a race one afternoon, along with another racer at a later time that had to be banned from the track due to a verbal incident.

That was the end of REM from my understanding. When I asked Ray why he was selling the track, he said he bought the track to have fun and for people to enjoy. Seems the fight and the loudmouth took the fun out of it and wasn't why he had the track. So he put it up for sale.

Congrats to who won the track, you just bought an awesome track.

]Hello all.

I'm new here and I'm the guy who won this track on eBay.

The track now lives in Wilkesboro, NC. See it HERE.

As far as damage to the track it had two sections that were water damaged however Ray had repaired those. The only thing I had to do was to repaint a small section of the track and stripes.

We opened for business the middle of September. People weren't exactly busting the doors down but the business is growing. It's amazing to me how many people don't even know what slot car racing is.

If any of you folks are nearby come see us.

Charlie
