Has anyone been able to log on to OWH?

I get this warning using Firefox:

I have logged on a couple of times despite the warning. No problem at all.

It could be that somebody have posted warnings at Google just to make some fun. I don't know.

I've had the same problem using Chrome.

Avast warns me that it has detected a virus.

I sent Paul a message about it through Facebook. He is aware of the issue.

Haven't been able to access the site on my laptop with IE but have been able to get to it via my phone and an app on my tablet. Paul wrote in a post he is trying to get the problem taken care of by filling out forms for a false report of the site to the internet police.

Sam, since you are my friend I know you won't take offense to this.

Just seems weird using one Slot Car chat room to adress an issue with another Slot Car chat room :pardon:

Am I nutty to see it that way? My opinion is, I wouldn't automatically assume it's a OWH problem.

Sounds like a glitch and I'm sure Paul K. will fix it no problemo.

I hit  "Ignore Warning" after Steen's assurance there is no problemo. Now when I log on, the warning is gone and OWH comes up as before. PK has notified the powers that be and figures some troll has made false malware reports. Or maybe a 600lb hacker on his bed in his mother's basement.

Not really, Paul.

I see plenty of links and copies of posts/threads being posted here on Slotblog.

Leave it to Zippity to create a war where there is none.

Show me the "links and copies of posts/threads being posted here on Slotblog" you refer to.

Zippity, you lecturing me on how "Both forums are supporting/promoting our sport/pastime" is absurd.

The only support I read from you is an argumentative nature and an anti-USA sentiment, in general.

So, don't lecture me on "support".

When is the last time you helped a newbie on Slotblog?

The last time you posted a photo of a slot car you built?

Nothing in your post appears to be intended to help the problem.

I've been receiving the same "deceptive website" warnings for a number of days. Makes it almost impossible to access OWH since if I choose to ignore the problems, they recurs every place on OWH I try to go.

Paul K. will get it fixed eventually, I am sure.

The same thing happened to one of our local forums, and the admin sorted it out with Google.

Very frustrating and time consuming for forum admins.

Hope Slotblog doesn't get affected...

Never had any problems with it. Last check two days ago with https://www.virustotal.com/ did show 2 (false) positives of 64.

FIrefox (55.0) on Mac shows up as a deceptive website here. Safari also...

Not from my end, Phil, assuming I understand you correctly as saying that you get a deceptive website warning from Slotblog.

Neither Firefox (56.0) nor Safari (11.0) have any problem at all. Just tested both.

I just got the "deceptive site" warning on Firefox 56 on a PC. When I clicked through it, the site hasn't had a new post in about a week.

Very strange.  :shok:

Cheers,

IIRC this same thing happened once or twice in the past and got fixed.

Google Safe Browsing in www.virustotal.com shows it as clean. BitDefender and Yandex are warning.

OWH is back to normal. Well, it's back to just weird. No more warnings. Here is what Paul K posted:

Any potential problems were pointing to the plugins, so all plugins have been disabled and are being deleted and replaced.

All forum software has already been replaced and scans show no evil cooties are lurking.

Many people were bypassing the warnings, including myself, and I have not heard of anyone catching any weird virus as of yet.
Although I do have this annoying rash... but I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with Slot Car Talk... (TMI!!!) LOL.

All the precautions recommended by Google are being followed diligently to help prevent potential threats in the future.

There are also many upgrades, improvements, and lots of other cool stuff in the works... so buckle up, hang in there, and enjoy the ride! smile.gif

Yes, it does look like the deceptive website warning I've been getting is gone, for the first time in a very long time. Good for Paul!

Hi guys, this is an area I may in fact be able to help with.

Google and others have been making a large push this past year for site security. Specifically, what is called an ssl certificate. Generally sites are being scrutinized for this layer of "safety". If a site has a good certificate it will have the making https:// instead of http://.

This may not be the issue, but probably has something to do with it. While I take no responsibility for results, if you have been to a site before and can confirm that the domain name is correct, you should have no issue.

When the Web master updates or adds an ssl cert, that should go away.

Alternative, some browsers allow you to say the site is trusted and you would stop seeing that warning.

-Rob
