Points season comes with the turn of the leaves and a bit of crispness in the air with Elyria's Haven Raceway and Hobby. For the fall season, we'll be running Ohio Challenge Cup GTP and IRRA Retro F1 (Penn-Ohio subset) starting at 7:00pm sharp!

Look forward to seeing everyone there!

The GTP season kicked off with six racers this Wednesday night and it was quite an impressive bit of racing as we split the field into two groups of three.

Picking up where he left off last season, Jeff Henes led the charge to 209 laps despite leaving his brake bypass on for his initial few heats, throwing off his rhythm. Borrowing a car from yours truly, Uncle Larry Kowicki put on a show with a 191 lap run to post a strong second. Jeffrey Henes had a solid third at 189 laps after a rocky start. George Katzakis had a blinding fast car but lost a heat and a half with a chewed spur gear, eventually recovering to turn 186 laps. Haley Halfhill had a rough return to GTP racing for a 171 lap run, while Dan Halfhill had his GTP motor go flat practically from the drop of the green and only could manage 167.

With only George and Dan ready with their cars, no F1 race was held and Dan and George were both awarded appearance points.

This Sunday will be the start of the GT1 and Can Am championship for the fall. Definitely an exciting time as racing gets going at Haven Raceway and Hobby!

The Wednesday points season moves right along as five GTP racers made an appearance on the Hillclimb in a split 3 and 2 event.

Jeff Henes continued to be the man on top as he ran another 200+ race, this time putting in a 204 lap run for the win. The closest fight of the night was between Jeffrey Henes and Dan Halfhill. Early controller issues sidelined Dan, leaving him with lots of laps to make up on the fast youngster and he came within a lap of pulling it off, with Jeffrey in second at 194 and Dan at 193. Haley Halfhill improved from last week, turning a solid 183 laps, and we welcomed back from vacation Gary Sutorius who ran a respectable 180 laps despite having not run his GTP since spring.

With only Dan Halfhill and Jeff Henes lapping their F1's, they were both awarded appearance points towards the chanpionship.

It's a big month with the GTP Shootout on this Saturday and the GT1 and Can Am points season continuing on Sunday. See you all at the races!

Six GTP racers (and one random field filler) took to the track for Wednesday's points season and it was a VERY close battle through the field.

Jeff Henes proved to continue to be the man to beat with a 209 lap total. Dan Halfhill gave a strong run early on before controller gremlins got the better of him. He still hung on for a 196 lap run to second place. Jeffrey Henes was right on Dan's tail with a sterling 195 lap run to third. Gary Sutorius picked up a solid fourth with 186 laps, beating Haley Halfhill's 185 lap fifth place total and Larry Kowicki looked to be on a front running pace until a bad hit moved his motor, chewing the spur gear and leaving him with only 145 laps.

Dan Halfhill was awarded F1 appearance points while Jeff Henes's F1 has reportedly made a trip to the Bud Bartos Skunkworks for rehabilitation.

This will be a packed weekend of racing with the Ohio Challenge Cup at HMS and GT1 and Can Am racing (non-points) on Sunday. See you at the races!

Four GTP racers made the show at Haven on Wednesday night and it was a blinding fast race. Bud Bartos ran a stellar 206 lap rsce for the win over a very quick Dan Halfhill. Gary Sutorius fought a stubborn car early on to pull off a 182 lap run to third while Haley Halfhill was fast but a combination of a chipped spur gear and a messy few heats left her with only 175 laps to show for her pace.

This weekend the Ohio Challenge Cup rolls into Fastraxxx in Fremont, Ohio for its third stop of the year while GT1's and Can Ams will be running for a non-points event on Sunday. See everyone at the races!

With seven GTP racers on hand, Haven was pleased to welcome new racers Scott and Peyton Goins, whose cars had just been built Tuesday afternoon!

With laptimes in the mid 4's all night, it was a familiar story up front as Jeff Henes picked up the win at 201 laps. Dan Halfhill recovered from early controller malfunctions to come in right behind at 190. Gary Sutorius turned a consistent 180 laps over Dad's return race total of 176. Haley Halfhill's 169 laps was enough for fifth, while Scott Goins had to pull off early with a bent axle and 130 laps. Peyton Goins turned a good 114 laps. Not at all bad for a first race, being eight years old, and needing a step stool to see the donut!

Racing will continue on Sunday with Can Am and GT1. See you at the races!

Wednesday night GTP racing had seven racers on the night before Thanksgiving, giving us two groups of very close racing.

Jeff Henes had a career night as he took off like a rocket to set a new overall lap record in GTP of 217 laps! Dan Halfhill ran a personal best of 207 but still came away with second. Gary Sutorius and his trusty C11 ran a steady race to 193 laps and third over Jeffrey Henes's 191 in fourth. Dad spun a spur gear early on but recovered nicely to 187 laps in fifth. Haley Halfhill beat out a returning Jeremy Halfhill by panels, both at 176 laps.

GT1 and Can Am will be in action on Sunday for points as we race on into the holiday season. See you there!

Seven GTP racers tackled the Hillclimb this Wednesday in one of the closest races in recent memory. Jeff Henes picked up a tight win at 205 laps over a charging Dan Halfhill who turned 203. Gary Sutorius brought home his trusty C11 in third with 193 laps while Haley Halfhill managed 180 laps for fourth. Making a surprise appearance was Al Rogers who managed 178 laps on his somewhat dusty GTP over John Halfhill who is still getting used to his new ride and ran 176. Finally, Dad had a good run going until lead wire issues in the last heat took him out of the running with 175.

GT1 and Can Am will be in action this Sunday as the last warm-up before the Penn-Ohio Retro Series tackles the Hillclimb for their annual visit to Haven. See you at the races!

With five racers on hand for Wednesday's GTP round, the decision to run a "four-up, four down" round robin was made and it turned out to be a fast and stellar race.

Jeff Henes set a blistering pace running a car "borrowed" from Jeffrey, turning 210 laps for the win. Ron Vincek made a surprise appearance and was on a strong pace as well even after a rough opening heat, coming home with 202 laps. Dan Halfhill grabbed a good third place with 197 laps over Gary Sutorius in fourth at 185, while Haley Halfhill had an unusually rough night to wrap up with 176.

Even with the snowing blowing away, 6 GTP racers answered the call to race this Wednesday night.

The battle at the front was Jeff Henes versus Dan Halfhill, with Jeff getting the better of Dan on the freshly cleaned and glued Hillclimb. A final total of 207 laps gave Jeff the win over Dan's 202. Gary Sutorius claimed a solid 3rd for the last GTP with front wheels running 188 laps. Brandon Barricello made a surprise return to knock the rust off, netting 182 laps with his car, while Eric Spierings also returned with his new GTP, beating Haley Halfhill by five panels, both with 174 laps run.

Don't forget this weekend will see the Ohio Challenge Cup at NESCR in North East, Pennsylvania and we wish the best of luck to all of the Haven regulars making the trek eastward. GT1 and Can Am will run on Sunday as a non-points day and we look forward to seeing you all at the races!

A five-man GTP round robin took place in the midst of the snowfall last night at Haven and many thanks to our dedicated racers for making it happen!

Jeff Henes grabbed the last GTP win of 2017 with a strong 202 lap total over a fast Aj Mccall with 190. Brandon Barricello cameoon strong with a 185 lap return to form, while Eric Spierings continues to improve with his 173 lap run. Steve McCall borrowed a Henes machine for his first race back in some time and came away with a cautious 145 lap total.

This weekend will see our normal Sunday program followed by a rare Monday event as we host the Second Annual Haven Hangover Enduro! See you at the races!
