The Flexi National Racing Series made it's 4th stop of the 2017 series at Tri State Slot Car Raceway on October 14, 2017 in Middletown, Ohio. A total of 61 entries in the LMP, Stock Car and GTP classes.
The FNRS would like to thank Terry Rice and Tri State Slot Car Raceway for hosting the event. Many Thanks to Rick Blackson, Butters and the Tri State staff and helpers for a great time and lots of fun at this event. Thanks to ALL of the racers who traveled near and far and participated in this event. We had several familiar faces and many new faces at this event and it was great to see so many racers from the past as well as the present at this event. It was great to catch up with a few of the spectators that I have'nt seen in awhile too like Gary Adams, Steve Dieters and Rob Garland. The 2017 FNRS Series now heads South, to it's final stop of a very successful first season, to Florida on November 4th for the final event of the year at Fast Eddies in Pinellas Park, Florida.
The new location was great and as usual Gary Gerding did a fantastic job reworking the King track.
LMP qualifying had Bobby Beauchemin of North Carolina smashing the track record with a time of 3.662. Second quick was Jason "Butters" Engle with a 3.774.
LMP concours winner was Anthony Brown with Thom Green 2nd and Shame Parent 3rd.
The LMP C Main was a close race in the early going between locals Andy Quatromani, Thom Greene, Frank Ferlet and long time and past slot car racing champion Ben McGuire. Andy ran into gear trouble and that set him back a bit while Thom and Ben distanced themselves from Frank. At the end it was Ben McGuire winning with the C Main with 227 laps.
The LMP B Main was a battle between Eric Shirey, Eli Ezrow, Terry Watson, Brandon Barricello & Anthony Brown. By the halfway point it was a three man battle with Eric, Eli and Brandon making some distance from the rest of the field. At the end it was Eric Shirey winning the B main with 237 laps. Eric waited patiently to see where he wound stack up against the A Main lap totals.
The LMP A Main looked to be a Bobby Beauchemin benefit after the first two heats with Bobby pulling out to a 5 lap lead over the field. In the 3rd heat Bobby took a hard hit and his car was never the same. That handed the lead to Jason "Butters" Engle with Shane Parent hot on his tail. Butters and Shane battled nose to tail the rest of the race with Shane having a slight lead over Butters going into the final heat. In the final heat, Shane deslotted and Butters took the lead and the overall LMP win with 243.07 laps over Shane's 243.03.
