Back in ’66-’67 I used to frequent Lions Drag Strip in Wilmington, CA, with my brother Willy. We drove his hopped up ’56 VW every Wednesday night for the “run what ya brung” class for I believe it was $5 for as many passes that you could get in till closing.
I’ve always been a fan of VWs and this one night there was this bug called “Glass Wag’n.” I believe they were there doing some testing that night. On its first run it would launch all four wheels off the ground, two feet in the air!! If i remember correctly it would launch off the ground in first, second, and third gear. It was coo,l man!
I was wondering if anyone else remembers seeing this VW at Lions back in the day?
