I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this... and... it doesn't really seem much suited for making anything slots-related, but it's still a cool development.

    CNC Slot car TRACKS !!!!!!!!!!

FasTrak Hobbies in Newark, Ohio, had two CNC tracks 20 years ago, a King, and a UK Black. They were both built by Chris Dadds, and, AFAIK, they are still in use. Great tracks!

Has anybody ever successfully routed a slot just wide enough for the HO rail in Sintra?

Goliath just might be able to be programmed with the finesse to pull it off.

That is an amazing little piece of equipment!  I could see that being used to duplicate 1:1 tracts for scale tracts.

Doesn't Viper use Sintra board?

If so, how do they do it?

Mike,
I have a viper track made out of Sintra. The rail is held in place with locking wire and small amounts of glue. His premium tracks are made out o solid PVC.

24 g. Wire color coded for each lane. Presses in next to the rail.

An expert on hand routing Sintra maintains the locking wire does 3 things.

First, it requires that the rail slot be routed wide enough for a router bit to work right and not melt the material and turn it to goo.

Second, it holds the rail in place while the epoxy cures. I understand he puts the epoxy on the side of the rail up against one side of the slot.  (He uses JB weld mixed in small batches and prefers his lovely assistant to help with this process.)

Third, when color coded it marks the lane.

I have never built an HO track from Sintra but I think I would rather move a cemetery.
