A friend of mine that lives in town is an RC body designer but was involved in slot car racing in the Sixties. He sent me a picture of a body he dug up in his basement. It was painted by a fellow named Kovacs in SoCal around 1966. It was to be run in Arco events but it looks like it is brand new.

And it even had the driver's name on it and that he ran as an Independent not a Pro.

Yesterday there was an entry in an old thread about the recent passing of Kovacs.

RIP Bob Kovacs

Message from John Strachan about this post;

I spotted this today. I think Dennis has Champion/Waters/Dave Bloom Ferrari. They were sold by all three entities, but designed on by a guy named Charlie Waters. Time frame is late 60's I'm pretty sure. These were popular around here up to about 72' when most guys switched to the Lancer Porsche. Waters also did a Mclaren body that was very popular. Parma now has the mold. As far as Bob Kovacs, he was the "body painter to the pros" in the late 60's and from SoCal. I think now does custom cars and motorcycles, a pinstriping specialist.

Thanks John
