It was another fun day of racing at The Doghouse in Gilbert, S.C. on Saturday the 28th.

Although turnout was small this month due to other commitments by some of the guys, we still had a blast, doing our best to distract each other from being able to focus long enough to complete 12 three-minute heats (three runs in each of four lanes). Racers came prepared for lies and mudslinging:

("Fast Richard" Sylvester, Marty "The Professor" Cwiakala, Dan "The Man" Parker, Jim "SlowBeas" Beasley)

This month's scheduled event was IROC-style races. We have a group of Turbo Flex chassis that are identically equipped -- Parma 501s with the same size pinion and spur, JK tires, and bodies that are color-coded for each lane.

IROCs are always challenging since you don't have a chance to customize the car to suit your own style of driving. Nonetheless, each driver runs each car in its assigned lane in each of the three races, with the total laps determining the winner. It's a good thing we don't drink beer while racing, because we might find ourselves getting confused where to place each car at the end of the heat. (In other words, if I'm driving Red in the first heat and move to White in the second heat, the White car starts the second heat in its assigned White lane, but from the point where Red came to a stop at the end of the first heat. Make sense?)

The laughs were many and there's always a healthy share of trash-talking. But when all was done, I was able to hold off a challenge from Richard.

Our next race is set for Nov. 25, at which time we'll run our Jail Door chassis. Will have another report and more photos for you afterward.

Until then, good racing to all.
