How do you align brush hoods on a sealed motor (such as a 16D or S16D)?
I've seen some folks who offer tools that are supposed to work; others believe in the eyeball micrometer.
Ideas and/or methods appreciated.

Obviously, with a 'sealed motor', taking it apart with the armature out, is not possible. The current tools allow individual alignment relative to the base of the motor and the armature shaft. This is a bit more accurate than the eyeball method and much quicker than checking brush wear after the race. The sheetmetal hoods bend very easy, but the endbell moldings are very square and consistent.

Hi Jim,
I sell what you are looking for.

Backtrack hood alignment fixture

I didn't respond right away because I was waiting to see if I had some in stock at the raceway.

I might be wrong, but I think a raceway in Florida just bought the last six, from the last batch that had been made.
