I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.

Lots of good feedback come from models/slots like this!
I got more interest from my BRM than any of my other projects I have ever posted on this or any other forum.

Just one thing : this is not a Formula 1 (eventhough it derives from Lotus 34 which derives from Type 29 which itself derives from Type 25 ... )
Ok: Lotus 25 was a F-1, but the 29, 34 and 38 were Indy cars ...
I will also build or restore 1/24 Lotus 29 and other 38s ...
Here are the Lotus 29 I have now at home, one of the two strombeckers belongs to a friend of mine who asked me to build it for him:

Please note that the Strombecker box shows Big Dan on the morning of qualifying day, with the Halibrand rear wheels replacing the cast magnesium Dunlop wheels that showed cracks. A few hours later, Dan will crash the car and will have to hurriedly jump in the shorter wheelbase "mule" for qualifying. Lots of little details to observe between the 3 chassis, of which only 2 survive today as Bobby Marshman destroyed the ex-Clark 2nd-place car.
Also note that Slot Indy (Ostorero father & son) produced a very accurate Type 38 in the 1/32 scale, in no less than 4 versions from 1965 and 1966. I was happy to help them secure the Lotus licence with Clive Chapman as well as providing them with pictures and detail information.
I am looking forward to see your "29's", especially the brass Miyazawa model that wears the Halibrands at all 4 corners, which it of course never had!

Yes I know it. A splendid 1/32 car indeed ! (here the RTR version, not issued from the kit one also could get).
And as for having 4 versions, well I will just do a second Monogram for me in Orange and white (the 1966 version) together with another one for a friend.
Now, as Chris kindly asked me for more pictures:
On this serie of pictures you may notice that the rear tires are not genuine. By the way I put some silicon repro cox tires, because the size is more accurate (though a little narrower that the original thing, but better than the too wide Monogram tires of the Kit version) and also it allowed me to play with my new toy and, guys, it's really fantastic!
I knew the 1/32 Lotus 33 Monogram was a real pleasure to play with, the 1/24 Lotus 38 is alike.

Not orange but fluorescent vermillion (red)...

JM,
Borrow, steal or rip an Ostorero red Lotus (either the Clark or Al Unser version) to get the exacting color.
Daniele and Gianluca did a very nice job.
Also you can take a Monogram Type 38 and cut it right at the cockpit, ad a section and make the Graham Hill 1967 Type 42F, an interesting variation that was supposed to receive the BRM H-16 4.5-liter engine that was not ready in time for the "500".
The Ford V8 lasted 5 laps before it blew.
Same red color for the car.

JM - could you shoot some nice close up shots of the driver for us - The car looks amazing. Thanks for sharing brother.
Here it is.
As for the painting of the body of the pilot, with trompe l'oeil technic, I made a special topic I suppose you've seen.
I still have to put a "BELL" decal on the helmet and, once the oil painting will be really dry (it takes long) I wil put some gloss varnish on the climax.
Please note that Clark's habit was to put some black tape on the upper part of the Climax screens. This explains the black line.
By the way, for this race there was also some tape in the lower part but I choose no to figure it,so we can see more of the eyes.
Because i'ts a vintage toy and I want people to recognise the Monogram head, I also choose not to cover the face with the scarf that Jimmy wore during the race.

JM, I believe that the decal is not "Bell" but "Buco".
Philippe,
This is true for 1966. But for 1965, the pictures I have (notably in "Team Lotus, The indianapolis years" by Andrew Ferguson) show a dark blue helmet, not a black one.
Never heard of a blue buco. So are you sure ?
Here is a picture that will be useful for the 1966 version:

JM,
It was ALWAYS black an ALWAYS a Buco helmet... old color pictures can be very deceiving.
The 1963 helmet was sold at auction under my very eyes. A black Buco. The 1964 helmet was owned by Andrew and was sold at auction in 1989. I have the catalogue and the helmet is a black Buco. The 1965 helmet was in Gerard Crombac's collection at his flat in Paris. I have seen it thee years ago. A black Buco.
In 1966... well you have the picture!

Too late to ask Jaby ... I met him several times, as he was the "President d'honneur" of our French Lotus Club.
This means I would have to repaint the helmet in black ...
Just for once, can't you have a deficient memory ...
