Hi,

I've just bought two (older?) chassis on ebay.

I know, they were made by Koford and Dynamic, but maybe you can give me a bit more information (year, motor, class, ...)

Are they rare or not? I paid only a few bucks for both. Should I keep them in the packaging, or can they be built.

thank you in advance

The packaging on the Dynamic should be a clue to dating in the 1980s(?).  The Koford is one of the last wire wing cars they made before everyone went to spring sreel and pillow blocks in the 1990s.  The wire frame cars with pans were used as flatter track wing cars and later in the IMCA/CASSRA C-1 sports car classes with hotrodded grp 12 motors in the mid 1990s.

They aren't of any value as a collectable.

They are if you collect 80s and 90s Wing cars. :D

I think the Koford one was also marketed by Red Fox/Gugu. Maybe they were the manufacturer? Many chassis like those from back in those days were made in Brazil. I tried it back in the day and never cared for it.

I had good luck with the Koford chassis, running as a box-20 on Jerry Kulich's black when he was in Lombard. The

track eventually became Dave Feidler's. The Dynamics chassis I ran as a C-1 on the MTT when Jerry was a little

loose on rules. I ran a Porsche body, and it was nominally successful. Jerry got rid of a lot of old stock of these

types of chassis, and we had a lot of fun with them. Still have both cars.

Jay Horn from Wichita, KS. ran a chassis very much like the Koford in group 7 cars with very good success back in the late 1980's and early 90's(in fact I think it may have been a rough copy of his chassis, as he raced for them at one time). He won Group 7 semi-pro at the 89 nats, and a couple of big pro races after that, not to mention a bunch of local and regional races. Jay's cars were so good that Koford made an EDM version of it, but i don't think it ever did much. I still have one of them hanging around somewhere. I raced against Jay in those days and he was always hard to beat!

Jay actually won G27 at the 89 Nat's, beating out David Liebenthal.

Dan Green won an Okie Open in Pro G7, in the early 90's, with the same type of car.

That's been awhile, Mike. I think you are correct. I just remember he and Dan won a lot of races with those wire shuttle cars!
