I hope that you will join me this weekend, December 1-3, 2017, to show appreciation to our local track owners. If you haven't visited your local raceway in some time, just showing up and getting some track time might be appropriate.

Many track owners run their shops by themselves or with a minimal staff- often things are put off because of lack of manpower. Running a raceway is not an easy job and taking a weekend to show our track owners some TLC might be more helpful than you can imagine.

Some suggestions of things you could do to show appreciation:

  • Track maintenance or track cleaning as needed
  • General cleanup and or organization
  • Facility maintenance / painting
  • Coaching kids who are new to slot car racing
  • Hang Christmas/Holiday decorations
  • Taking a friend to the track and showing them around
  • Putting a free ad on Craigslist with the raceway information and some photos if you have them
  • Help with stocking shelves or similar tasks
  • Volunteering a few hours to answer questions from non-racers who may come in the shop

These are just some starter ideas and I am sure you can come up with good ideas also.

A few hours of volunteer time might just help us to avoid the feeling of showing up to our local raceway some day and finding the doors locked, lights out and tracks gone.

If there are no commercial raceways in your area, I would encourage you to volunteer some time at a local club or hobby shop.

Thank you In advance!!!

Why is it those who are fortunate to live close to a raceway assume everyone on the planet does?  :dash2: :sensored:

Darn, I'm living in the '60s. Ten miles (or less than 20 minutes) to two different raceways.

Great idea and I think that's where the owner is open to let his customers help I am very lucky to be in a situation like that
Is the influx of new people coming in all the time and visiting to what slot car racing is
With the owners being to show them around and introduce them to a hobby in a sport that we've all enjoyed for many a years I think now because of the importance of getting new blood into the sport it's important that the owners be that way and I'm happy to say most of the track owners that I've met in the past two years of my comeback are of that caliber I pray that more tracks open up and more owners become that way

Downriver has a new track I am told.

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.
