Are some cars assembled from a kit still desirable? I've noticed that on ED that some of their prices are out there i.e. Cox Modified Team GT40 in the box? What happens to the price when it's assembled?

-Yes.

-As soon as the box is opened, the value goes right down the tubes.

Sounds like collecting unopen sports cards and/or boxes! If anything, I'll leave the collecting to the hard core guys. I have a piece of slot car history that I will enjoy looking at and running it.When I started in the 60's, the FUN was running these toy cars and it still brings a smile whether it's HO, 1/32, and/or 1/24. I have collectables in ALL scales but I do run some of them! Like they say, do what makes you happy-that's why they call it a HOBBY!
