The key to the silentaire is finding one used. I paint a lot of models and trains. Sometimes a painting session lasts me 4 to 5 hours. I don't have to let the compressor catch up on its duty cycle. It's air on demand, plus its super quiet. And other than changing oil there's no maintenance. So for me personally it's justified. But the caveat here is finding one used. I'm cheap. I could buy one new but I'd rather spend my pennies else where.

I just got one of these as well...for 65 bucks. It is super quiet. Now I have to learn to paint!

Same here... LOL.. Trying right now to convince my wife that I can airbrush in my office without getting paint all over everything.. Probably should order a small paint booth or make one.. Can't paint for sure in a 40 degree garage...

Gary, a good-sized cardboard box makes a great spray booth. I've used them for years. Do a YouTube search on "spray booths" & you'll find an assortment of materials used to build them.

Is the box large enough to use for a paint booth?

I am not a doctor, but I played one as a child with the girl next door.

Maybe i guess. It's about 6 inches deep by a bit over 12 inches tall
