I came a cross this motor in a box I had lying around.
Can't figure out who made it!
Looks homebuilt?
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Champion, '70s. Group 12 is a standard wind for group racing, still used today but better quality.

Ted,

The "Group" motor designations came from the old NCC organization in the early '70s or so, which defined a bunch of slot racing classes based on cost. Supposedly a Group 12 car was to cost no more than $12.

Later the Group labels came to be used to define the type of motors, armature dimensions, and winds.

Those are factory heat sinks. Came on a NOS motor I purchased recently.

A tag might be in the armature between poles - NCC-12 or NCC-20.  Endbell color and length of stack looks to be Grp 20.
