When I'm bored I get strange ideas...........

What would you think of a retro race where just for fun we eliminate the scoring/timers during practice? Take away the clock so to speak so you have to tune your car using just your finger and the feel of the car like it was back in the day?

I wouldn't have a problem with that but I bet you won't get consensus on that among the fastest guys at your local track.

Some tracks I have raced at have no visible monitors anyway - guess and maybe.

If there is no scoring then how is it a race?

I think Raisin meant you held a normal race.

You just don't test and tune with the timer on.

When I got back in, in 1981, there wasn't any lane timers I remember.

Qualifying was usually done with a single BSRT, digital readout, HO timer.

Back when I ran SOCAL USRA from 97-03 I would travel a day early to set up and test motors. Tracks were never race ready so I would use my eyes and ears and look at chute speed because race day was too busy. Worked very well so I'M IN.

This thread can probably be retitled, or subtitled, "Can we trick Willy into entering a crappy car" ?
