As a formal announcement...

Several racers have come to me inquiring as to the legality of "Short Shaft" Retro Hawk motors given the current controversies that surround Retro Hawk motor performance.

I had erroneously replied that despite no included statement in the rulebook, there had been a prior statement made regarding their illegality at the time of their introduction.

Today, I did as much searching as humanly possible to find and confirm this statement just to be certain. Instead, I have uncovered that this was not the case.

As such, I wish to apologize to these racers who had inquired for my mistake and inform all Ohio Challenge Cup racers that we will allow these motors, also engraved by their manufacturer as "Retro Hawks" to participate.

The OCC Board is fully aware of and dismayed by the current motor controversy and we wish to do everything in our power to continue to promote fair and inexpensive racing for all of our participants.
