This time, I revisited the shortened version of the "big 'buchi", removing enough of the can to clear the end bell retainer tabs.  The can got a fixed bushing with both the bushing and what was left of the original bushing carrier soldered-in to the can.  Magnets are a stout set from an industrial Mabuchi, measuring around the same as "Arcos", that were the right length, but needed trimming top and bottom to fit.  After drilling for end bell retaining screws, the can got a coat of VHT "Anodized Blue".

The end bell here surprised me, because there was no crack around the bushing area (!?)...AND the bushing was still nice and tight, go figure!  :D  So, all that was needed as to solder the hoods to the brush tubes (*AKA "heat sinks"  ;)  ), add fiber washers under the hood screw holes and install a set of spring post sleeves.  I topped it all off with a set of my .015" stainless steel springs bent considerably past 90 degrees for this one.

For the armature, I wound a 27/26 after removing two lams plus the fiber stack end insulators.  The com is a Mura/Kirkwood that got CAREFULLY reamed to fit the larger shaft.

The result is beaucoup RPMs in a motor that draws between 1.5 and 2 amps at 6V/no load.  While the motor "could" go into a road racer-for-the-insane (*but used with caution!), it's a natural for a drag car.  The shorter length should make fitting it full-sidewinder a bit easier, but I cleaned up and inline bracket I had lying around for the inline crowd.  :)  "This motor will kill"  :D
