A very chilly evening appropriately opened the winter season at Haven Raceway this Wednesday, with 8 entrants (1 Pro, 4 Advanced, 3 Division One) ready to brave the temperatures to race.

Among the Division One racers, it was Eric Spierings running a clean 160 lap race to hold off Matt Easterday by two laps, while rookie Brian Hupp struggled with an unprepared car and controller issues to record 127 laps in his Haven debut.

In Advanced, it was a close race top to bottom as Gary Sutorius ran a stellar 178 lap race to pick up the win over Ken Kanyok who ran a personal best of 174. Brandon Barricello nailed down third with 173, while Tim Burton made the trip from Canton, borrowed a ride out of the Halfhill stable, and came home with a 168 lap finish.

Running for fun and points, Jeff Henes knocked down a 192 lap run with a 4.718 laptime on Yellow as he aims to stay dialed in for the upcoming OCC round at Tom Thumb.

The Winter Season goes into full swing with GT1 on Wednesdays @ 7:00pm, and GT1, GTP, and alternating Retro (Can Am to start) on Sundays @1:00pm. See you at the races!

Another great Wednesday night of GT1 racing greeted us with 13 racers (2 Division One, 8 Advanced, and 3 Pro) eager to take on the Haven Hillclimb.

Division One was a great 142 lap showing for new racer Donny Macan, who was entering his first race after only having had his new GT1 built the day before. Brian Hupp faced handling difficulties with his new build which kept him to 130 laps should be fully ready for primetime by next week.

Advanced was a huge showdown of eight racers with Larry Kowicki pulling off a great win at 179 laps over Dan Halfhill at 177. Mark Piscione came home third with 171 followed by Gary Sutorius with 169, Ken Kanyok at 167, and Tim Burton at 166, showing just how close the field was! Haley Halfhill had a rough time in traffic, coming home seventh with 154 laps while Brandon Barricello suffered major handling issues all night and pulled off with only 122.

Pro was an absolute knockout of a race, with defending OCC Champion Eric Shirey squaring off against defending Haven Pro Champion Jeff Henes. Both would run 188 lap totals, with Eric taking the win by only two panels over Jeff. George Katzakis lost time early on with a dry bushing that robbed him of laps but he still managed to lay down fast laps and consistent heats, just running out of time at the end with 187 laps!

We'll be back to racing this Sunday at 1:00pm with GT1 Junior, followed by GT1, GTP, and Retro Can Am (entrants allowing). See you at the races folks!

Nine racers (two Division One, six Advanced, and one Pro) came out on a chilly night to race hard on the freshly cleaned and glued Hillclimb.

In Division One, Eric Spierings came back after an off-week to pick up a solid 163 lap win over Brian Hupp at 145.

In Advanced, Dan Halfhill put in a very fast run to 185 laps to pick up the win over Brad Feurstein at 177. Gary Sutorius found a good motor in his stash and picked up third at 171 followed by Ken Kanyok at 169. Haley Halfhill knocked down 165 laps to beat Tim Burton by just one at 164.

Jeff Henes was the lone Pro on the evening and used the grippy track conditions to run a solid 191 laps.

Racing will continue this Sunday with Juniors starting the day at 1:00pm. Come early to get your pit space as the Winter Season races on!

This Wednesday saw nine racers make their way onto the Haven Hillclimb for our weekly GT1 field and with great track conditions it was a fast evening of racing.

Eric Spierings was our only Division One racer and turned in a solid 168 lap finish.

In Advanced, Gary Sutorius stormed to a big win over Dan Halfhill, at 189 laps over 186. Larry Kowicki was in the fight, but a spinning spur gear blunted his charge and left him in third with 174. Tim Burton continued his steady gains with a run to 171 laps, and Haley Halfhill had a rocky night to wrap up with 165.

The three Pros on hand gave a great show as Bud Bartos broke through as the first GT1 racer to claim a 200 lap race on the Haven Hillclimb with 201 laps for the win! Jeff Henes hounded Bud the whole way with 195 laps and Gil Pataky used the night to run in a new motor and cranked out 184 laps along the way.

Next up for Haven will be our full slate of Sunday racing but as a non-points day to give our traveling racers a bit of a breather after the trip down to Columbus for the Ohio Challenge Cup. See you at the races!

Wednesday say nine GT1 racers take on the Haven Hillclimb with two Pros and seven Advanced.

The Pro race was a showdown between Jeff Henes and Ron Vincek, with a stop on the front straight for crash damage taking Ron out of the immediate fight and Jeff taking the win, 193 laps to 185.

In Advanced, Dan Halfhill overcame a broken left rear hub to run 184 laps and take the win over a resurgent Gary Sutorius at 181. Brandon Barricello made the most of a quick car to grab third with 179 laps while Tim Burton showed a huge improvement to finish one lap behind in fourth at 178. Haley Halfhill had one of her best runs in some time after finally debugging her controller, racking up 168 laps over Ken Kanyok whose race was compromised by his tires eating his body. Eric Spierings elected to run scored as an Advanced racer rather than taking win points for Division One but a bad hit twisted his chassis and left him at a seventh place DNF with only 118 laps.

Our regular Sunday program is up next as we move on into February. See you all at the races!

A light but racy field took on the Hillclimb this Wednesday with six GT1 racers (five Advanced and one Pro) running.

In Advanced, it was a nailbiter as Dan Halfhill came up with a win by only six panels over Gary Sutorius, both at 185 laps. Third belonged to Larry Kowicki at 182 laps, followed by Haley Halfhill who staved off early race handling issues to run 166 laps to beat out Eric Spierings who again elected to run scored as an Advanced driver rather than with his Division One ranking.

Jeff Henes, the lone Pro on the evening, used the night as a warm-up for his trip this Saturday to compete in the OCC round at Mark's Model World in Canton and came away with a 195 lap run.

This Sunday will be a NON-POINTS Sunday with the full slate of regular racing. We're looking forward to seeing everyone there as February continues on!

Fourteen racers took on the Haven Hillclimb this Wednesday night for a fun if traffic filled night of racing.

In Division One, Brian Lear put his stamp on the evening (and his unquestioned move-up to Advanced status for next points season) with a stellar 188 lap run over Eric Spierings with 168 and John Phelan with 138.

In the Advanced group, Brad Feurstein claimed his first win after his return with 190 laps. Larry Kowicki got Dan Halfhill by panels, both at 185 laps. Brandon Barricello had a solid fourth with 180 laps over Tim Burton at 179 while Gary Sutorius came home with 176 using an unfamiliar controller and Haley Halfhill managed only 151 after major damage necessitated a mid-race body swap.

The Pro group had a close race going with Bud Bartos winning with 197 laps over George Katzakis with 195 and Gil Pataky with 194. Jeff Henes unfortunately tweaked his chassis badly in the warm-up and withdrew with handling issues after only 35 laps.

A light six man field took on the Hillclimb for Wednesday night's GT1 action. Bud Bartos came away with the Pro win over Gil Pataky with the second recorded 200+ lap run in GT1! Gil kept pace for runner up with 192. Gary Sutorius was the Advanced winner in a close race over Tim Burton followed by Ken Kanyok. John Phelan picked up some valuable points and had his personal best run as the sole Division One racer.

12 GT1 racers made it to Haven before the snow fell last night for a great night of racing.

In Division One, Brian Lear managed a strong win with 178 laps running a Flexi 1 chassis on a traffic filled night. John Phelan continued his steady improvement to grab second with 166 laps over Scott Goins at 160.

The Advanced group saw Brad Feurstein turn a huge 191 lap run into a win on the night. Gary Sutorius ended up beating out Dan Halfhill for second by only a foot within the same panel, both with 181 laps. Jeffrey Henes would wind up fourth with 173 laps over Haley Halfhill at 158 while Ken Kanyok developed mechanical issues early on to pull with just 69 laps.

The Pro group was another tight race as Jeff Henes pipped Gil Pataky, 194 to 193 laps while Ron Vincek overcame a sticking guide flag early on to finish with 181 laps.

In Pro, Ron Vincek picked up a narrow win on the freshly cleaned track over Jeff Henes at 193 to 191.

In Advanced, Gary Sutorius defeated Jeffrey Henes at 188 to 181.

For Division One, Brian Lear continued his streak at 181 laps to Eric Spierings at 166 and Matt Easterday at 162.

Eleven racers came out on a crisp Wednesday night for some strong GT1 racing.

With four racers, Division One was a rout for Brian Lear at 185 laps for another big win. Junior racer Waya Dute tossed a GT1 body onto a former Mad Mexican ride to run a personal best of 144 laps in with the adults. Waya's dad Ray Dute joined in for his first race and pulled off a commendable 134 lap run, while Eric Spierings was taken out of the action early with a rider that left him with only 74 laps.

The Advanced group saw Gary Sutorius claim another win on the season at 186 laps in deep traffic, beating out Dan Halfhill at 181. Ken Kanyok claimed third at a solid 171 lap run while Larry Kowicki withdrew with car trouble at 85 laps.

Pro was the closest fight of the night with Jeff Henes beating out Gil Pataky, 192 laps to 188, with late arrival Ron Vincek bringing up third with 185.

This weekend will see a non-points day on Sunday as the Ohio Challenge Cup travels out to Washington, PA. See everyone at the races!

Nine racers made it out for Wednesday night GT1 racing at Haven and they made a good show of it with five Division One racers, four in Advanced, and Ron Vincek as the sole Pro.

In Division One, Brian Lear gets ready to close out his D1 campaign with another Wednesday night win at 188 laps. John Phelan had a strong night after a few weeks off with 166 laps over Donny Macan at 162. Ray Dute improved strongly to 148 laps while Waya Dute had a personal best run at 145 laps.

Advanced went the way of Gary Sutorius with a big win at 186 laps. Haley Halfhill's primary car went down in practice, so a Mad Mexican sourced ride was tossed together which led to her best run of the season at 175 laps over Dan Halfhill with 173. Tim Burton struggled with handling issues for the bulk of the night and pulled with only 150 laps.

Ron Vincek managed a solid 189 lap run, spending most of the race on the same lap as Gary giving a good show for everyone.

Don't forget that Easter Sunday will not be a points race day while April 7th will feature a DOUBLE POINTS day to wrap up the Winter Season. See you at the races!

12 GT1 racers (Five Division One, six Advanced, and one Pro) turned out on a blustery Wednesday night to wrap up the Winter Wednesday season.

For one more time, Brian Lear picked up the Division One win with a great 179 lap win but this time the pack wasn't too far behind. Newcomer Gary Vinyard ran a solid 160 lap race to pick up second. John Phelan fended off junior Waya Dute for third, both with 159 laps but John on panel 10 ahead of Waya on panel 1, and Ray Dute had a solid race but replacing a bent axle early on kept him to 134 laps.

Advanced was a close fight as Dan Halfhill picked up a big win at 183 laps over Gary Sutorius at 178. Tim Burton was right there in the mix at 177 over Haley Halfhill at 174. Ken Kanyok elected to run a "Production" car from MMW and still ran a respectable 170 lap race while Jeffrey Henes encountered issues in traffic that held him to 154.

Jeff Henes, the lone Pro, scored a 184 lap run on the evening.

We'd like to also take a moment to congratulate Jeff Henes (Pro), Gary Sutorius (Advanced), and Brian Lear (Division One) on taking their respective championships, and a special nod to Gary for being the only racer with perfect Wednesday Winter attendance! Thanks to EVERYONE who has joined in for the fun this season!
