Chris,

I wish I would of video taped myself as I scrolled down the page, the first time. LOL

Bill,

On Saturday afternoon, 3PM, I shipped a replacement order, to Bryan Warmack, for Howie, along with a couple more orders to Cali, for pinned Red Fox guides, for the Checkpoint Cup.

All 3 were delivered today. LOL

The only thing that could make this crazier is if it's finally delivered to Howie, on Feb. 2, Groundhog's Day, by a postman that looks like Bill Murray.

I contacted a friend (and my top Wednesday night GTP racer), who is a post office exec, and he contacted Washington, DC (honest), and got somebody there on it.

They surmised there was something hinky with the bar code / tracking number, and located the package, and put on a new one.

Mark comes in handy once in awhile.

In 1990, he arranged for me to pick up my last-minute sent tickets for the Brazilian Nats from a closed post office, on Thanksgiving day, five hours before I had to get on the plane.

"Go to the PO on Green St., in Bensenville. Go in through the back door on the shipping dock. There will be one woman, working, sorting mail. She'll be expecting you, but will probably have a Walkman on, so try not to startle her."

Other than witnessing Gugu instigate a three-way catfight between two stripper sisters and their rival (another stripper), having my motor stolen out of my pit area, during the heat I moved into second, behind my pit neighbor, who had his own pit man, who never left his chair in the crowded raceway, and coming home with walking pneumonia, from the climate change, it was a pretty uneventful trip. :laugh2:

I hope the package gets some kind of mileage credit; should get a free shipment from the accumulated miles!

I don't think the government gives any mileage to packages for domestic travel any more.

This may not be so unusual. Several years ago I ordered a small, thin book that came in just over letter weight. It was supposed to arrive in three to four days. It didn't, so I contacted the sender, and he swore he sent it. A week later, it still hadn't arrived. I contacted the sender again, and he still insisted he had sent it on the promised date. I let it all go, assuming I had been swindled and wasn't going to get the book. Two months later it appeared in my mail box. It had four ink stampings on it, each indicating it had been "inadvertantly mis-routed to-" Italy, Bolivia, Mexico, and Canada.

My current route guy can't seem to get the mail delivered to the right house. At least once a week I get someone else's mail. It usually belongs to one of my neighbors, so it is no big deal to deliver it myself. But I wonder if they extend the same courtesy to me when they get mine, or if they just chuck it in the garbage. I miss more mail now than I ever have, but considering the huge volume they deal with, I suppose it is bound to happen.

I had a shipment from Alpha get caught in the "Wisconsin Triangle" also, although not to the extent that yours has. It took eight days for a Priority Mail package from Fond du Lac, WI., get to Wichita, KS. It arrived the day I got back from the race I had ordered it for!

We have that happen all the time. It seems that the mail carriers in our town are contract workers, so I'm guessing the postmaster doesn't have a lot of sway over these guys. One of the carriers seems to be on the phone literally all the time.

In my town when a package won't fit in the mailbox at the curb our mailman puts the package in a plastic bag with the days mail, comes up the driveway, and leaves it by the side door.

When I first moved in I had occasion to be at the mailbox when he was delivering, he stopped and said, "Welcome to town. If you have any problems with your mail stop by the post office and ask for me. I'm John and I'll get it straightened out."

I've had great luck with the USPS over the years.  [I probably have sent 1500-2000 packages  the last 20 years with only one issue back in Dec.   That package was tracked into Atlanta and vanished into air!   My local postmistress did a search from her end and did what she could.    I have received 3 letters from the PO, finally explaining that they can't explain it.    Overall, I bet our system is among the best in the world.    They actually do a great job.

It does sound like something went wrong with the printed bar code that kept Swiss' package bouncing back and forth.

My  local PO arranged for me to pickup a package at the backdoor on Saturday afternoon.

Yeah!  At this very moment I'm tracking a package that for some reason went to GA, and is now on "HOLD"!  It never should have gone in that direction in the first place, now it's on hold, for what???  The PO here can't explain it to me.  Nothing in the package is in any way dangerous!!  I've been having "mixed" dealings with the USPS, I think there are more of them throwing bags of mail in the nearest dumpster!

Problems with the postal system seem to be regional. My cousin has some cottages in the Town of Rusk, Wisconsin. He had

a problem with kids driving by and smashing his mailbox with baseball bats. His mail comes out of Chetek, so he told the

postmaster there to hold his mail and he would pick it up when he was in town. Instead, the carrier started going into the

cabin and leaving the mail on the kitchen table. Technically, that is illegal, but everybody knows everybody up there, and

they just let it go.

Over the years I have had no problems with the USPS, but this thread has me hoping the parts I ordered last week show up without being chased all over the country.

Today I hope?

I've had few problems over the years, but I still hammer the posties as I do most government employees (won't call 'em workers!).  Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're independent from the government; whatever!  I think it does say something though that when they catch a postie stealing or destroying mail it makes national news.

Statistically speaking, considering the many millions of pieces the USPS delivers every day, their record is exemplary.

But I still get mad when the route carrier won't take two steps up to put my mail in the box. He just throws it on the

stair.
