So I found this... ah chassis and motor, very weird!

Giant motor, Pittman maybe?

And this small metal chassis, no markings, very weird!

Any ideas on who and/or what?

Thanks!

Not any Pittman that I have ever seen. It's a wound field, not a permanent magnet motor. If I had to guess, it might have come from a tinplate (Lionel, American Flyer) locomotive. Chassis??

Now that you say that... those wheels look familiar, I'm thinking Lionel station wagon.

Yep, same company: they came out with these Hot Rods in 60 or 61, their first set. There was just a thread about these, I believe, because of the odd track and pickup system - a small magnet on the end of an arm connected to the steering, that went into a very shallow slot on the track,...

I have the set somewhere, but haven't found it for now!

Ive been calling these hot rods for decades too but they are American Flyer Motorized Stock Car Racers made by A. C. Gilbert.
