 Fellas,

I'll suggest a theme we've used in the past. That being using the first letter of the month as a basis for the evening's theme, "F" for February, FORDs, Ferraris etc.

This'll put Steve's FORD Pick-up right in the middle of things...

Fellas,

Theme for February's meeting was, slot cars starting with the letter "F".  We had a large turnout of slots meeting the "F" format, some of which have been seen before by Faithful Followers and some not so Familiar...

Steve brought along his raft of Monogram 1/24 hard bodied cars, many being FORDs. Rather than photograph them individually we took a group shot and featured only his latest creation a 1959 T-bird.

Built along the lines of the original Monogram release of the 1960's the 'bird  features all original era running gear and hardware but boasts a new/old body. The "Richie Valens"  issue of the 'bird is molded in a pale aqua which is well suited to the era and makes for a really slick build.

Sharp eyed fans will notice the efforts of Steve to stuff a "big can" into the small can berth by rotating the beast 90o, thereby not only shoehorning the motor into the chassis but lowering the center of gravity considerably...

We also had a portion of Rodney's stable on hand, many fitting this month's  "F" theme club theme. A good portion of the C.A.R.S. clubs slot car equipment

was actually built "back in the day" and Rodney has a few that really stand out.

By far my favorite is Rodney's Ferrari GP car that we refer to as "the BOUNTY HUNTER". Many moons ago (March 1967) CAR MODEL Magazine did a feature article on a semi-scratch built 16D powered 1/24 GP car based on a DYNAMIC motor carrier and a scratch built front end. The car featured a vacu formed Ferrari GP car and adorned the cover (lower left)  of the particular issue.  Rodney built his own version back then and he still has it in his collection. The car does see track time often and can run at a pretty good clip to this day !

I also wanted to mention another of Rodney's rides, the FORD Mustang II Trans-Am car riding on a brass/wire chassis. A later style Lexan body rests on the complex looking frame with an inline 16D motivation.

The Mustang is one of the quickest and best handling of yesterday's bunch. I'm also including a pic of Rodney's Capri a Ford product, on an early Flex 1 chassis sporting a now almost rare "HOT WING" from the era.  The Capri is also a top runner... stay tuned for more !

Great to see Pete and Rodney last night..........Other than one of my trucks with an X-100 16d that ran hot, my stuff is intact......Swapped out the armature today........Runs quieter than the other.....go figure..............Found a guy in Ebay who builds and sells.......This turned up a ‘41 Willy’s Pick-Up in Aztec Gold and it wheel-stands.........We’ll try this thing out when it shows up........Small and quaint, I like seeing you guys down there once a month and seeing your builds...........Will be at The Race Place on Sunday...Feb 4th hanging out with Jack and his son Ed around 10:30.......Those guys are always assembling something.......

Lurking in the background of one of the previous photos was a really interesting car, from Rodney's bench.  A red FORD Falcon Ranchero on a brass wire chassis with CLASSIC in-line 26D power !

We'll try to get some more pics of this one next time...

The chassis of the Ranchero appears to be a very clean build. Nice vehicle!  When you have the chance to take more photos of the Ranchero, a topside photo of the chassis with the body off would be desirable. :)
