[dc-65x]

I found this sorry looking Lancer body recently:

 

 

After a through cleaning something beautiful emerged:

 

 

I am absolutely, totally and almost uncontrollably blown away by it   :

 

 

I've not seen one before and it's so long, low and swoopy    :

 

 

The body first appears in the Auto World Catalog in the summer 1970 issue:

 

 

If anyone has any memories or pictures of this body built up into a car could you please share them here. Thanks!

Sharp looking body Rick. I've seen it being used in some retro race reports. Somebody, maybe REHCO or Outasight, must be repopping them.

I know nothing about the body, but I think it looks very cool. Hope you do a build around it and show us!

Did you polish that or do you have magical soap and water?

 

It should borrow a name from another Mopar and be called the "Charger Dart" 

 

I'm not sure on this, but I think Rick just might have the talent to fab a wing 

 

Every once in a long while you see one of these on on a chassis on Ebay. 

 

The ones I have seen ( not many ) always have a trashed body.

 

Unless there is that off told elusive stash somewhere I believe few of these survive in useable condition.

Just Clorex spray cleaner followed by multiple gentle washings with Dawn soap and a SOFT brush.

 

We used to be able to buy dozens of different gorgeous Lancer "Crystal Clear" bodies for a buck and a half...........and I didn't used to be old either.

Thanks for the pictures. That's pretty much what I was thinking of building for my body. I'm thinking of a Green can motor, Fass 64P gears, 3/32" axles, Associated telescope style wheels and a 2-rail per side, plumber on the 1 1/4" arm chassis.

This is the same body that got "Banned" at the Boola Bash NASCAR Enduro last year by the powers to be. It originally passed tech by Bryan , but the whinning forced it to early retirement and we had to install the cookie cutter Cyclone to compete. Shame, it's a great looking body.

As I recall- in the middle 1970's the most popular body we ran was an even swoopier Plymouth Superbird. I am not sure who produced it but it was very slammed. Wish I had a photo to share.

It might have been a Lancer, REHCO was repopping them awhile back & packaging them using the black on lavender header cards. Doug Azary had one on Jim Allen's scratchbuilt.com.

It is a beautiful body and will or could make a great looking car.

 

It has only a slight resemblance to any full sized car, and shows how the hobby was moving away from model racing as the hobby faded from the heyday. 

 

It is a great caricature of the original car.
