Why would that be?

The IRRA® is adding motor choices to the existing ones.

Buying a large quantity of motors is the racer's choice, not a requirement to race.

Can someone at sometime please list all the motors with all the markings with all the dates for legal motors now? And I dont want a smart *** answer, I want a written reference so me and racers like me can look at. I gave up following this motor deal awhile ago till somebody made a decision. Now that you have, a refresher of what is and what isnt legal at what time would be appreciated.

Well, with these recent motor submissions you can count on the pre-7R Hawks will be illegal after March and that won't be lifted.

All kidding aside, I would give a shout out to the IRRA® BoD for doing everything in their power to minimize any motor inequality issues that exist.

Good effort, guys.

IRRA® eliminated the most common motor in my box and added two I don't have. Gonna have to swipe the strip off my card if I want to be competitive.

Anyone messed with either of these motors? Which is the fastest and will either of them run with an R? Just asking for the R4.

Here's the original announcement:

Only 7Rs motors for all classes at all Premier races after 4/1/18.
No short shaft 7Rs at Premier races.

For regional series, it is recommended:

As of 3/1 only 7Rs in Can-Am.
As of 9/1 only 7Rs in all classes.

Of course, it has also been announced that the short shaft 7Rs are legal now as well, in addition to the PM motors.

Will, the Rs are eliminated at Premier races because they are not available to all. Pretty simple.

While I applaud the approval of another motor, I regret to inform those concerned that we tried the Prof. Motor item as an alternative for our LMP class at Fantasy Raceways. Of the two purchased, both exhibited the dreaded two-speed syndrome. Admittedly. a small sample, but it took the starch out of that possibility.

I think Professor Motors PMTRHR has been approved based on the test results and evaluation of its performance by BoD.

How does IRRA® do evaluate the performance of Professor Motor retro motor compared with that of pre-7R JK Retro Hawks?

The new motors including short shaft Retro Hawks are added to IRRA® approved motor list because the present 7R is perceived to have problems.

Will no action be taken for the present 7R (now it should be called long shaft)?

I don't think all the long shaft RH should be banned but JK Products should recall the long shaft 7Rs presently in the market, replacing them for the Short Shaft Hawks.

I don't think any members of the IRRA® BoD, or other racers, who have tested them on their own, has seen anything that has resembled pre-7R performance.

But who knows what will happen when, say, PM gets into a new case of motors?

Mike,

Sorry to bother you when you are busy shoveling snow.

Please forget about the green circled part of the above post.

I just would like to know if there is a chance for Pre-7R Retro Hawks will be approved as said in the red circled part.

I was done blowing and shoveling, about 3-1/2 hours ago.

I think you probably saw, on FB, the after picture.

Below is the before pic. About 7"-8", with 12" drifts.

To answer your question, there is always a chance, but not from anything we've seen, so far, from the PM motor.

Or my wife's Honda Element. Lol

That's what I took to the raceway tonight.

I actually had a couple different dads, bring in their 5 year olds, to race.

7R motors (long shaft), purchased recently, won both Stocker and F1, at the Retro East race, this past Saturday, at HVR.

8 lap spread, 1-8, in the F1 A Main.

6 lap spread, 1-8, in the F1 B Main.

The situation is less than perfect, but ultra close racing still continues with these motors, just like from day 1, in 2013, at Sano 7.

I dunno swiss but i purchased 10 long shaft 7rs and all 10 were slow. My best time was 4.8 to 4.9s with all of them. To compete in the A main i need to do consistant 4.6s. I used to be able to buy long shaft 7rs and be able to get competitive times.

I bought three short shafts and can turn competitve A main times....

im either really unlucky or there is something wrong with the long shafts.....

Jeff,

I guess you might of missed my statement "The situation is less than perfect".

And that we approved the short shaft motors you seem to be happy with.

The point of my post was to address Haruki's assertion "JK Products should recall the long shaft 7Rs presently in the market".

If all non A Main motors were to be recalled, I guess 80-90% of every restricted class motor, ever sold, would need to be recalled.

If you need a guarantee the motor will be an "A Mainer", you buy one of these;

COMPLETE G7 MOTORS

M196-20-G7 20 mag CNC open motor with billet retainer ball bearings and .490 84 SAW arm.

$438.86 ea.

I think it say's right on the package "Guaranteed to be fast enough, to hopelessly destroy your car".

When I started back slot racing in 1981, I use to buy US made, Mura Int-15 arms, at $19.15(?), a crack.

I never got a top one.

If I wasn't lucky enough to get a slightly above average arm/motor, in my Parma Int-15 RTR car, I would of been SOoL.

My winning 7R was purchased within a month or two after the 7Rs were first made, not recently. The newest motor in my box is the r4 handout.
