If anyone is having trouble logging in to Slotblog!, shoot me an email or PM.

It looks like a lot of the Slotblog! activation emails got snagged in junk filters. I've communicated with several members who were unable to log-in because they never saw the activation email and thus never clicked on the link it contained to fully activate their accounts. If that happened to you, just let me know and I can activate your account for you.

Cheater, my email was dumped to "junk" by Yahoo. My guess is that this will happen for anyone who uses Yahoo email.

Marcus, this is a known problem with Yahoo, AOL, MSN, etc. I try to keep an eye on new members and to activate them from my end if needed.

I use both and haven't had a problem. Perhaps a sacrifice to the computer Gods would help others. I think if you Email someone first your spam filter ignores their incoming message and allows it through.

Jeff, this is the first report of this sort of problem. Does the problem recur?

This site seems very stable, but it's always a possibility any time a really 'long wire' exists between you and the storage of the info you're inputting.

If you know you're going to be doing a lot of text, compose in a simple text editor on your desktop first. Then paste it in, even if it drops, you're not too bad off.

I'm sure you knew this and just didn't bother. Apologies . . .

Ray, yes, there is, but you have to be logged in to see it.

I'll send you a screenshot via direct email. Look for it.

Haven't been able to stay logged in for the last five days or so.

Only happens here. If I'm gone for more than 20 minutes, half an hour or so, I have to log back in.

Okay, guys, I've made a change to the board's cookie settings. Let me know if you see any improvement in the staying logged-in behavior.

And, again, let me remind everyone that when you are having problems like this, the first thing to do is to clear your computer's cookies and to re-log-in.

Dennis,

Don't worry, Paul was pre-chastised. Knowing him from other arenas, I didn't lock his account down for posting when I approved his registration, as I knew he'd comply when he eventually got it all figured out...

I thought I'd give him a couple of days, and golly, he got it handled in a few minutes. :laugh2:

Though, if he'd admitted being a pal of yours, I wouldn't have cut him any slack.

OK, but did you need to take your shoes off, or do you have enough fingers left after the angle grinder incident? :D :D

And "moderate" only works here if you stay out of the FreeBlog - you have been warned.

Hey Cheater:

I've noticed that when I try to read posts at times between approximately 2:30 - 3:30 am, the response is often excruciatingly slow, even though I have a broadband connection. Other sites come up almost instantly, so I don't think it's on my end. Is that approximately when the hosting site does maintenance?

Marcus,

I simply don't know. I see Slotblog's speed being very variable, and I don't know why.

I don't get much response from IPS when I query them, but hey, it's cheap hosting...
