Steve Howard vintage cars

Through them, another VW car club got wind of me, and booked a party for this afternoon.
One of the club members, Steve Howard, was a veteran of the the south suburban slot car scene, that included Southside Raceway, Fast Freddie's, and Speedworld.
He brought in a large box, with a bunch of vintage stuff.
I 'll post the more unique stuff at the end.
The inside top of his box had some cool stickers, including a repro Parma sticker, and a neat Revell sticker, I don't recall seeing before.

I'm always a sucker for 41 Willys.
Also, a Buzco Little Red Wagon.
It looks like a Classic Asp chassis under the Skipper's Critter Willy's.
A nice, stock, Russkit Lotus 30.

A Cheetahracha with the molded in front spoiler.
The black anodized, infamous, iso-fulcrum chassis.
A cool Riggen dune night.
Steve said this car, with the 26D, is a nice runner.
The goofy K & B Thundercycle.

A Dubro candy colored VW, with a Dynamic chassis. This combo was a mainstay at my local raceway, in the late 60's. The hanging, fuzzy dice, are a nice touch.
I'm trying to recall if I've seen this type of brass pan, before. Regardless, if not a production item, it is really nicely done.
A couple of International padlock rails.
I like the guide flag weight, on the front of the green anodized one.
A Revell Big Daddy Roth Surfite, converted to a slot car, with a Rat Fink driver.
Again, the fuzzy dice.
Steve's ultra-short wheelbase, scratchbuilt chassis. Steve says it does wheelies.

Nice cars Mike, thanks for sharing.
That metallic VW is an REH item, have seen that brass body mount on other cars of theirs.

Those cars are all in nice shape for their age. Don beat me as to the VW source. I thought the black iso-fulcrum chassis were only available as separate items with the 26D adapters, I didn't realize Cox built RTR cars on some, then I didn't keep abreast of the Cheetahrachas.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Probably the Cheetaracha was built with over the counter parts and may not have been from a kit. The VW kits were around in the 90's., think.

That's a nice collection. Steve should thin the herd and sell those rail cars...to me!

Dy-no-mite! I ran a lot of Dynamics chassis, but that was before people started putting pans on them. A lot of those cars are typical of
what we were running back then.

Thanks to both Don's on confirming that was an REH kit. It would of been a cool kit to make a fun spec car racing class.
Sorry I missed them.(I assume they are long gone)

When I saw them, I immediately thought of your recent addiction to padlock rails.
Without me making any overtures of wanting to buy anything, Steve volunteered he wasn't planning on selling anything.
Him and his wife hung around after the VW party, to help marshal a church group party/race, so I think the commercial raceway itch might be scratching a bit.
He sounds like he might come back soon, but if not, the VW club head, scheduled another party, for April, so when I see him next, maybe I'll ask him if he really needs 2 International rails.LOL

I've never given a rat's a$$ about drag racing. Never raced, never owned a car. At one track, I use to go practice on the road course on drag night, and not once, during the entire night, even look at the track, much less watch the races.
But for some reason I've become obsessed with the vintage padlock rails. And I've been scouring ebay and spending way too much money. Hopefully my padlock rail fever will break before my bank account does!
By far my best acquisition. A minty original K&B rail with box, all the parts, and a RAM 857 motor (The Holy grail padlock).
