Since GRRR Retro can use the Retro Hawk short shaft, can we use them in stamped steel classes?

Terry, at this point the short shaft version is not allowed. I will make a post for a vote of the directors forum.

Would make sense.

I'd vote "yes."

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but allowing the short-shaft HR would mean when those cars are teched for NASCAR  and LMP, the body would have to be released on one side in order to verify that the motor is an HR (by the markings on the can).

Also, would it be OK for racers to cut the shaft off of long-shaft HR's in order to level the playing field?

Dale: Yes, if the short shaft motor is allowed, we will have to have body-off tech. I think that we should not allow the long shaft to be cut short.

I don't care if you adopt, or not adopt, but I'll just add that without the long shaft there, it sure makes soldering the lead wires on easier, on anglewinders.

Mike, you hit the nail on the head. When I was track testing the short shaft version, I found it a lot harder to solder the lead wire onto the negative terminal, because I could not trap the wire with the long shaft.

I thought it's easier without the shaft there, because you don't have to worry about the back wire rubbing.

Nope. I found it a lot harder without the long shaft. I guess its my technique.
