One of my racers, Lee Verdich, showed me pics of the car below his ex-foreman, a big Mopar fan, made when bored at work.

Probably wouldn't work very well but definitely an 11 on the cool factor.

He just did it to do it.

Apparently he did one from aluminum years ago, when he was somewhat of a regular slot racer.

It hasn't been on the track AFAIK.

I didn't take the pics.

Cool chassis. About ten years ago I did a 3-D model of a chassis I was thinking of making in the 5-axis machining

centers at work. I tabled the idea mainly because you can't effectively solder to aluminum. I thought about doing it

in brass, but with the price of a block of brass it would have been too pricey and I didn't see any way to get a return

on the investment. All the cross sectional thicknesses were much thinner that the one shown above.

Dave,

I just see it as a fun hobby project.

Not everything has to be built to compete, or sell.

Speaking of solder, now having more time to study the pics, I now see how he screwed a  brass sheet to the motor area, to solder the motor to.

I also like his screwed on, upright loop, brace.
