The owners of Slots-A-Lot Raceway in Franklin Square, NY, have made the painful decision to close the store.
The final day of operation will be March 31.
Thanks to all who have come to visit us over the past four years.

So very sorry to hear this!

That use to be my home for a long time, had many great races on those tracks. Hopefully someone will pick up their tracks. Three great tracks, the King was a real drivers track.
I think racing on three different tracks every other week made me a better racer.

Bad management is what did it.

A lot of excellent racers came from SAL (DDDerek, Pat Skeggs). Oh yeah and one multiple world and National Champion (Chubby). The raceway did not keep up with the quality of racers they had.
Tis a shame.
Cheers,

Sad but not surprising news. Let us put aside the usual hurdles of owning/running a slot track that did not work 50 years ago when there were people waiting on line to get in and get track time. If if did not work then, then why should it work now with a few notable exceptions.
Last time I was there the owner gathered everyone around for a 45 minute lecture on how he was doing everyone there a favor by keeping his shop open. My parents are dead and I do not have a boss so I am not that keen on lectures.
I will not get into the details but after that I never went back.
In any event, does anyone know what will become of the contents?
Always interested in bulk lots.

When they lost Derek, the best manager they ever had, that was it. We canceled our events there when braid repair was to pull out the stapler.

I started going to slots a lot in 1999, Cathy and Kenny ran the raceway, I was racing 3 times a week and loving it.

The Circle-T braid repair method lives on! Circle-T was nicknamed "Staple-T" by the locals

I would like to thank the management of Slots-A-Lot for everything they have done for me in the last five years.
You guys will be missed and all the best.

Frank told me on Sunday that if no one buys them, there will be an auction.
Wish I had the room to store the King.

Apparently the current owners of Slots-A-Lot are trying to sell the business.
They say they will sell it to the right person for "a song."
Hopefully someone will step up.
