As my work at the ski shop is starting to wind down, I've started to catch up on chassis repairs for some of our guys and also started to develop some new projects for the near future. In digging around, I have found myself short on some needed items. Naturally, I prefer to support my raceways friends but this time of year, I'm just not traveling at all except for once a month to our NorCal Retro races. So... online it is.

I placed an order with JK on Thursday the 29th in the afternoon, got an order confirmation and then a shipping notice one hour later that same day. The product was here Today (Monday) and actually would have been here on Saturday except in my neck of the sticks, we don't get Saturday deliveries.

Oftentimes, from other fine suppliers that I also use, a free shipping order doesn't go out for a couple of days and so shipments from suppliers that are geographically much closer, end up taking two-three days longer.

Sometimes it's the small things that matter. Great job by Tim and his crew.

Wait! What's that noise?

Oh nevermind! It's just another raceway closing it's doors for good!

Maybe if JK spent more time fixing his motor issues and less time stealing raceway business, slot racing would be great again!

Hmmmm... I sense a certain amount of bitterness here. Oh well, no matter. Have a nice day anyway...   :)

Not bitter at all, Jim, I upped my meds this morning! :)

Really don't care who you give your mail order business to, but I'm sure some of those commercial raceways with the high rent would appreciate the revenue from your order. Many of them do MO as well.

Instead, you chose to give it to JK and tell the slot world what a great job he's done. :bad:

I certainly appreciate your continued positive contributions to this rather simple thread.

Thanks again...  :good:

Trust me, Jim more than supports local (and other) raceways. He just doesn't live that close to any!

Really... if it weren't for Jim, NorCal Retro probably wouldn't exist. I've seen from afar the efforts he puts into that series... all of which contributes to the raceways which host the races.

Unbelievable – a note of thanks from a racer to a seller and he gets lambasted.

I appreciate you Jim for taken the high road in your responses.

Jim is a great guy that does a lot to keep the racers happy and buying from their local slot shop! Like he sells his chassis cheaply for the work he puts in through the slot car shops!! His "local" raceway is probably more than two hours away!!

Nothing like slot racing to bring out the whiners and opinionated!   :)

I'm with KVP on this one.

No place to use those parts if there are no raceways.

Raceways depend on parts sales to keep the doors open is all he is saying.

A raceway could have used that 40% profit he just gave to JK in addition to the 50% profit margin JK already receives when he sells through the normal supply chain.

Wasn't it JK that previously proposed a direct-sales campaign that would send a percentage of profits to designated raceways – without the raceway having to lift a finger to do anything?

I think we need to take a brief step back and take a breath before being too critical – of either Jim F or JK.

1. From the considerable building/instructions/racing and reports we see from Jim F, it's obvious he makes a sizeable contribution to the hobby and those of us who need help from people like him.

2. I suspect a large percentage of us have used tires and, very likely, a JK chassis or two in our careers. JK, under Jerry and Tim, have tried to provide us with quality, competitive products.

If you want facts, try asking the NorCal track owners how they feel about Jim's commitment to supporting their racing programs, not just Retro. You won't get anything negative from any of them. It's easy (I guess) to sit around in your pajamas 2,000 miles away tapping out critical posts when you have no clue what is going on here.

Closing this thread, as it promises to only go downhill.

I guess the fact that Jim posted his rationale, "Naturally, I prefer to support my raceways friends..." was either overlooked or ignored.
