FSCS at Avon Park

He obviously liked the track and felt there was enough pit space. It's the biggest, fastest track in the state and I would think racers would get tired of racing on these little Hillclimbs all the time.

Didn't mean it as a slam, I mean I don't fish the same waters or hunt the same woods because well, it gets redundant. Would like to see the FSCS on the big high bank Engleman, the guy could really use the business, too.

Well, that engenders the question as to why he hasn't reached out to the FSCS BoD, doesn't it?
Not that it has any direct bearing on this topic, but the owner of Avon Park has been a member here at Slotblog since May 2016 and has never made a single post. I always found that if you want to join the party, you have to come to the party.

There's a saying, slot racers make bad track owners. So with the opinions now aired out back to biz, it's the best track in the state ,period. Maybe Bill will call him and say hey we would like to race on that 200 ft Engleman down there, would ya like a few dates to race? Yeah, might work. I don't have a dog in the fight, hell I'm too busy with hunting, fishing and kids volleyball, I don't have time to change a set of tires much less a race car but I would hate to see the place close.

Four or five of us run Mosetti Patriots and Defenders either in NASCAR trim or GTP. Hawk 7 and mini Pro Slots and have some pretty good running cars. One guy, Joe from Ft. Myers, built a Defender with a Fox body and ran a 4 flat with it. I hate to see what he does when he gets the Renegade body on the car; the guy knows his stuff. Dave and John Maxwell run some GTP stuff too; it's not all wings, thank goodness.

Bill Pinch does not run FSCS by himself, i.e. the decision is not his alone to make.
FSCS is run by a Board of Directors and AFAIK know decisions in FSCS are made by that body.
Florida Slot Car Series Board of Directors: Doc Doughtery, Jay Guard, Ed Hoffman, Bill Pinch, Marcus Ramos.
So, you need to convince a majority of the FSCS BoD that a FSCS event at Avon Park would benefit the series.
But, honestly, your impact as a racer is going to be somewhat limited. The track owner himself needs to demonstrate a desire to have a series date there, as an indication of his support.
IMO, of course, since I am not a member of the FSCS BoD or a racer in FSCS. But that's prety much how these things work in the scenario the FSCS is utilizing.

I see. Well, I thought the racers would like running on something besides Hillclimbs all the live long day but that's just my opinion.
Then again some guys won't drive two hours to race; thats me, I don't have time to burn four hours in travel alone much less the time it takes to race. I have far too much to do and from what I hear from our guys a lot of of racers from other tracks won't drive across the state either. We live in a state where outdoors is king, i.e. fishing, hunting, and the ballsports.
I will mention to Rudy he need to get off his arse and reach out.

You're asking the guys on the east coast to drive two hours to race at your local raceway, but you won't drive two hours to race with them at the raceways on their side of the state?

I'm not asking racers to do anything.
Heck, if we had eight guys here to race GTP, we would race among ourselves. Ha-ha.

From what I've heard he doesn't carry any parts in his store besides wing car stuff and only has one table with room to fit your box and still have room to work.

John's Slotcar Garage had a 200' Hillclimb. That track in Avon Park is nowhere the size this track is. I'm going to guess this track is only 165'. Give or take 5'-10'.

Mike,
If you have not yourself visited this raceway, I'd appreciate it if you would not post hearsay info, especially somewhat derogative info. What you have posted may or may not be true, but I'd rather have the info posted by someone who has actually seen the place.

True, he hasn't a lot of parts; he can't afford it.
True, there is not enough room for boys to bring two suitcase-size boxes and set up a race shop on site.
False, the track is just at 200'.
True, he has it in top shape as far as surface and power goes.
True, it's in a cool little town (my town) that's quaint and country as grits and gravy.
Another trueism is that there are guys at each track that just don't go anywhere else, thats the way it is. I was told guys at P-1 leave their boxes there full time so I guess that means they don't travel.
Is he the best business man around? No. Does he have the income to stock a ton of parts? No.
Is it the fastest, biggest banked track in FL? Yes.

Well, Mark, if both local and non-local racers aren't flocking to Avon Park, one might assume they're looking for something more or something else than the "fastest, biggest banked track in FL."

Each track has a few people that don't travel, but they also have people that do. At all the FSCS races there are people from all three tracks, not just one or two.
I think cheater said it before that if Avon Park wants to host a race they should participate in some FSCS races at the other tracks. Just like the wing car races. You have people travel, you will get a race.

Not my call, like I said I just want to see the track stay open so our kids can race there when schools out but if not? Oh well, plenty of other activities here on the lakes.
