Just because there's a bit of sunshine doesn't mean we're slowing down at Haven Raceway!

Throughout the summer we'll continue racing OCC GT1 on Wednesday nights (PS4002FK's legal as of May 20th as Retro Hawk substitute). On Sundays we will continue our Juniors program along with adult GT1 and GTP alternating with 4.5" stockers (first stocker race to be held June 3rd so lots of time to prepare!)

With that, here's the most recent Sunday's results just to give a taste of the action on the Haven Hillclimb!

With 12 entrants, this past Sunday's GT1 action at Haven was a fantastic day of close racing.

In Division One, Donny Macan proved to be dialed in with a 180 lap win over Al Rogers at 170. Waya Dute was a close third at 167 over John Phelan at 161, Flip Masters at 160, and Ray Dute at 158.

Advanced had two entrants in a race decided by one lap as Gary Sutorius defeated Ken Kanyok, 181 to 180.

Pro had four racers with Sean Sutorius grabbing the win at 196 laps over Mike Lear at 194. Ron Vincek was in that fight at 190, and Brian Lear borrowed the Dan Halfhill ride to wrap up with 181.

Another sunny Sunday and another fine day of racing as nine GT1 racers took to the Hillclimb for some tight competition.

In Division One, four racers made for a close race as John Phelan too the win at 166 laps. Flip Masters was a close second at 163 and Ray Dute came out ahead of his son Waya for the first time in months, 154 to 153.

The Advanced group was a fight for position between Dan Halfhill and Larry Kowicki, with Dan getting the win at 180 laps to Larry's 179. Gary Sutorius was right there with them at 175.

The two Pros to arrive gave each other a fight with Ron Vincek at 187 laps beating out Brian Lear at 181.

This coming Sunday will be a week off for our racers to celebrate Mother's Day, followed by the Haven Year End Enduro! Food, racing, and awards for the racers who made the show possible all through the season!

11 GT1's took to the track this Wednesday for a fun night of racing.

Division One had three entrants and Waya Dute picked up another solid win at 167 laps, assuring his place among the adults for the points season in the fall! Ray Dute had one of his better outings at 158 laps over Randy Sanders at 152.

Advanced was a close match up as once again Larry Kowicki and Gary Sutorius squared off with Mr. Cheetah 21, Larry Kowicki scoring another win at 186 laps over Gary's 181. Dan Halfhill picked up third with 176, running a PS4002FK in among the Retro Hawks as a trial run. Gary Vinyard continues his learning curve at 160 laps while Haley Halfhill's GT1 went up in smoke at 156 laps.

Pro belonged to Jeff Henes with a big 195 lap run over Brian Lear at 183. Jay Sabala had guide issues at the halfway point that cost him two ugly heats and ended up with 164 laps.

Don't forget racers that we won't be racing this coming Sunday in observance of Mother's Day but we'll be back to racing next Wednesday. See you then!

The Month of May means racing, even at Haven, as 11 GT1 runners showed up on Wednesday night.

In Division One, John Phelan scored another win going away at 164 laps over Randy Sanders's 155. Nick Kuhntz made the trip to Haven for his first appearance and ran 136 laps over reformed drag racer Crag Zurowski's first road race with 131.

Advanced was a Gary show with Gary Sutorius beating Gary Vinyard, 176 to 160 while Tim Burton faced handling and body issues that kept him to 157.

Pro was the closest fight of the evening with Mike Lear running 189 laps to take the win over Ron Vincek's 188, Brian Lear's 182, and Sean Sutorius's 180!

This weekend is all fun as the 2nd annual Season Ending Enduro and Awards take place on Saturday, with doors at 9 and racing at 11! See you there!

Sunday had a great day of racing including the debut of our 4.5" Stocker class!

In Division One, we had another young racer pick up a big win as Alex Lear beat the grownups to a GT1 win at 162 laps to John Phelan's 160 and Flip Masters' 154.

Advanced saw Larry Kowicki run off to a 189 lap win over Gary Sutorius at 185 with Jeffrey Henes trailing at 171.

Pro was a big field as Jeff Henes and Sean Sutorius had a battle that came down to panels at 196 laps, with George Katzakis just one lap back at 195. Brian Lear rounded out the runners with 187 laps and Ron Vincek returned from his trip to Flexipalooza to turn in a mechanically challenged 112 laps.

With the Stockers, the decision was made to run a "3 and Out" Crash-n-Burn race to kick off the class and Jeff Henes picked up the win with 152 laps over Sean Sutorius. Brian Lear came home with 127, followed by Gary Sutorius at 115 and Jeffrey Henes at 48.

We'll be back in action this Wednesday with our regular GT1 program and next Sunday will see Juniors, GT1, and GTP. See you at the races!

Wednesday night had seven GT1 racers tackle the Hillclimb for some of the closest racing we have yet to see!

In Advanced, Larry Kowicki picked up the win over Gary Sutorius by inches with both scoring 182 laps! AJ McCall came home 3rd with 174 after an early controller issue and junior Alex Lear chose to be scored as an Advanced racer and came home with 168 laps.

Pro was a wicked fast race with Brian Lear grabbing the win over George Katzakis, 198 to 193. Jay Sabala ran in the hunt early but a rapidly deteriorating motor left him at a still strong 185.

It'll be Juniors, GT1, and GTP this Sunday so we look forward to seeing you all there!

Sunday's racing gave us 3 Juniors and 6 GT1 racers for a great day at Haven.

In the Juniors, Alex Lear dominated the field start to finish with 161 laps, while Trace Goins made his return with a strong 130 lap run over Jesse Lear at 124.

For Advanced, Gary Sutorius got revenge on Larry Kowicki for Wednesday night's close finish with a win of 178 to 176. Division One racer Scott Goins ran scored as an Advanced and turned in a solid 163 lap run to knock the rust off.

Pro was an impressive battle to the end with Ron Vincek joining the 200 lap club in a big win over Jeff Henes's 198 and Brian Lear's 196!

We'll have GT1 back in action on Wednesday again but racing will have this coming Sunday, the 17th, off as the Lake Erie chapter of the Armor Modeling & Preservation Society holds their first meeting here at Haven. See everyone at the races!

We had a fantastic turnout this Wednesday with 15 GT1 racers on hand for a fast and challenging night of racing!

7 Racers were scored in the Advanced Group and the division continues to be the "Larry and Gary Show" as these two veterans once again brought their race down to panels with Larry winning on panel 8 versus Gary on panel 5, both with 184 laps. Third place also went down to panels with AJ McCall beating out Jeffrey Henes, panel 15 to panel 4, both at 178 laps. Tim Burton was in the lead pack for the first few heats until a bad trip through the top lanes dropped him back to 5th with 171 laps, followed by Gary Vinyard at 163 and D1 racer Randy Sanders - scored as an Advanced for tonight - at 159.

6 Pros took to the track next and it was Mike Lear showing the way in a race long fight with Ron Vincek, with the race going Mike's way to a victory with 199 laps. Ron came home second with 193 over Brian Lear's 191. George Katzakis and Jay Sabala had a roaring race-long battle as well, with George coming up with a lap advantage at the end of the last heat for fourth over Jay, 183 to 182. Jeff Henes withdrew during the first heat at 13 laps.

While racing will be off for this Sunday, we'll be right back to it next Wednesday with more GT1 action, followed by next Sunday's Juniors, GT1, and Stockers program. See you at the races!

10 racers took on the Hillclimb this Wednesday night for some truly great racing in GT1, only slightly delayed by car trouble for the race director!

In Advanced, Larry Kowicki snuck in a 1 lap win over Dan Halfhill, 187 to 186. Gary Sutorius was right there with them at 184 and Donnie Macan, a D1 driver, was not only scored with the Advanced group but put up a good fight at 183.

In Pro, the race was as close as you could ask for with Jeff Henes picking up the win by panels over Bud Bartos, both at 199 laps! George Katzakis came home a strong third at 193 with Brian Lear behind at 188, Jay Sabala at 184, and Ron Vincek fighting severe handling gremlins for an early withdrawal at 74.

This coming Sunday be ready for Juniors, GT1, and Stockers on the Hillclimb as there's plenty of summer fun at Haven!

A fun Sunday afternoon held racing for our GT1 and Stocker classes with 7 GT1 and 5 Stockers turning out for a day of fun.

In Division One, Al Rogers returned to his winning ways with a solid 173 lap run over Alex Lear's 167 lap total and Tony Halfhill coming up third with 156.

The Pro group had Jeff Henes crack into the 200 club with a run to 201 over Brian Lear at 198. Dan Halfhill was scored in with the Pros as the only attending Advanced racer and came away with 3rd and 189 laps to beat out Mike Lear with 183 and handling issues and Jay Sabala with 180 after a bad shot in the bank.

The Stockers group ran another "Two Track Calls and You're Out" race for the fun of it and Brian Lear stayed steady for a win at 152 laps over Jeff Henes at 133. Al Rogers brought home a good third at 126 over Dan Halfhill at 119 and Jeffrey Henes at 47.

We'll be back racing with GT1 on Wednesday and Juniors, GT1, and GTP on Sunday and don't be shy about taking advantage of our new 10-10 hours through the week! See you at the races!

Six GT1 and Four Stocker drivers braved the beautiful weather to come out to race Sunday. Ron Vincek swept both, but there were great battles for the runner up spots behind him with Dan Halfhill scoring second in GT1 and John Phelan second in Stockers by panels over Al Rogers. Ron broke the Stockers lap total record by nearly 20 laps, and everyone had a blast! Hope y'all will come racing Wednesday, and we WILL have more stocker chassis and bodies in by then....

In the combined D1/Advanced group, Gary Sutorius gave a stout run to 180 laps to beat out a charging Tim Burton at 171 and a well improved Gary Vinyard at 168, while Randy Sanders had a challenging race with mechanical issues to wrap up with 157.

With the Lake Erie Armor Modeling and Preservation Society meeting on Sunday, we'll be giving our racers a weekend off but we'll be back at it with racing next Wednesday night. See you at the races!

The OCC was shipped a Phoenix motor for evaluation but we're not exactly sure where the home for it would be since if we put it into GT1 or GTP it would obsolete everything already in folks' boxes PLUS there's right now no real data on consistency motor to motor. The FK does offer that consistency with the added benefit that it's comparable to the Retro Hawk in GT1. Haven being an OCC shop, we run to the rules. :)

Wednesday night saw 6 GT1 racers take to the track for a night of very close racing on the Hillclimb.

In the combined D1/Advanced group we saw Tim Burton break through for a tight win at 178 laps over Gary Vinyard at 174 and Randy Sanders at 163.

For the Pro group Bud Bartos narrowly missed out on a 200 lap run with his Retro Hawk powered machine with a 199 lap run over Ron Vincek's 195 and Dan Halfhill's 185.

We had seven GT1 racers out for a Sunday race on the Hillclimb at Haven and good match-ups throughout the field.

For Division One, Al Rogers had a solid run to a 177 lap win over the improving Randy Sanders at 169, Haley Halfhill with 164, and Tony Halfhill with 163.

The combined Advanced/Pro race saw Ron Vincek hold off Dan Halfhill at 190 to 187, with Jay Sabala in hot pursuit at 184.

This Wednesday, Haven will be down as we install our brand-new Lapmaster Timing & Scoring system and a freshly cleaned track with GT1 and Stockers to be back in action on Sunday. See you all at the races!

The 1st of August brought with it 10 GT1 racers for the first race with Haven's new Lapmaster timing and scoring and what a tight evening of racing it was!

In Division One, Gary Vinyard pulled off a solid win of 172 laps over Joe Gerenscer at 156 and Ethan Illes at 124 laps and one ugly trip into the wall in the bank!

For Advanced it was a very tight fight as Dan Halfhill held off Gary Sutorius, 187 laps to 186 with Jeffrey Henes behind at 177.

In Pro, Bud Bartos managed another 200 lap race to take the win over Jeff Henes at 196. Brian Lear, borrowing son Alex's Retro Hawk powered machine was 3rd at 193 while Ron Vincek came in 4th with damage issues holding him to 179.

This Sunday we're back to racing with Juniors, GT1, and Stockers. See you at the races!

Racing conditions were wicked fast at Haven this weekend with GT1 and Stockers on tap for a wild Sunday of racing.

Six GT1's took to the track with four Pros and a combined D1/Advanced scoring for Jeffrey Henes and Al Rogers. Jeffrey came out on top with a very quick 193 laps to Al's own impressive 185.

Among the Pros, the big story is Jeff Henes's new GT1 lap total record of 207. That's an average lap of 4.638 seconds! Ron Vincek did his best to chase after and wound up with 193 laps over Jay Sabala's personal best of 192 and Brian Lear with 185.

The 5 Stockers lined up for another Crash n Burn type race and it turned out to be a close one. Jeff Henes picked up his second race win on the day with 164 laps with Ron Vincek behind at 154. Jay Sabala ran a Vincek loaner and came away with 3rd at 144 laps over Al Rogers at 141 and Jeffrey Henes at 76.

The summer is counting down and we're rushing towards the season. See you Wednesday night for GT1 at Haven!
