Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Thanks for posting this, Greg!

Sorry about the nerf. "Sorry? Sorry? There's no apologizing in slot car racing!"

Besides, where would I even begin?   I should probably start with my wife ...

"I don't often get very many "fast laps" but I very often get many laps quickly."

The only thing I know about slot cars is if I had a good time when I leave the building! I can count the times I didn't on one two three hands!

The Speedway sure did look different than it does today. That had to be scary for the starter standing on a platform just on the other side of the wall with 33 cars bearing down on you. LOL.

I don't know about that, Brian. If he gets caught up in a fiery crash that would suck.

I use to have a Pitts airplane and the gas tank was basically in your lap. Twenty gallons of gas makes a good fireball. That's the one thing I worried about in that airplane because that is the one way I don't want to die, in a fire.

Rode the train to Philly with some friends to watch this broadcast live in black and white, if I remember correctly. I think we were the only three in the full theater rooting for the turbines.

Old school indy. Great post. Turbine vs. offy, stock block, and whatever else is fast.
