First of all, let me say I started my rules with several underlying intentions in the interest of fun racing:
-I earmarked them with this: "Rev. 1" with the date. That way I can make changes and you'll know if you are looking at the latest edition. Now we are using "Rev. 2" dated 7/12/2018
-I wanted the casual budget-minded racer to be able to feel he or she can use some equipment they already have, use a reasonable priced budget motor and chassis, and actually have a good chance of winning. Leaving your buddies in the dust is a guaranteed recipe for bad turnouts.
-I started off by allowing any motor to see just how much HP we could put into them before it became a speed-crazed-moron money war. We are now there, and I believe the majority of us agree it's time to throttle back.
-Instead of specifying exactly what motor(s) can be used, I feel it's smart to simply mandate any FK permanently sealed type motor because every time the latest lightning-fast Falcon 8 or Phoenix 2 comes along, I won't have to change my motor rule. The racer decides what motor to use. If a new batch of Super Hawk Screamer 6's come from China and are really slow, no problem, simply go to a different motor.
-I started off with no restrictions on air control much the same reasoning as the motors - I wanted to see what the racers would come up with. Again, like the motors, we are now there, and I believe the majority of us agree it's time to ditch the wings so we aren't just racing wing cars.
Hope that explains my mindset. We want to increase participation, not alienate people
Now, where did I put that doggone new Phoenix motor??
As dc-65x always says, "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
