Went to a friend's house to see all the cars, parts, and track he acquired in his lifetime. Two years ago, I remember when he got this car right before our track closed and his passing. His wife gave me this car, and I am thinking of restoring it.

What parts are missing and needed to complete the restoration?

The original wheels are pretty much unobtainable these days but one thing you can do is put on some knife edge front tires. These are a very close match to the originals:

Another item is that the Bandit's came with 3 prong knock-off wheel nuts.

Hi Rick, I have restored several of these Bandits and Super Bandits.

Is your intention to restore it to factory stock?

If yes, then you will need a few parts.

Parts that are not correct are drop arm, should have axle cast in one, now available 3D printed thanks to Larry.

should have a bolted on hinge.

                                               motor, should have purple can.

                                               wheels that Larry mentioned.

                                               white Dynamic guide is missing,

hard to see if gear is correct?

                                               see pic below.

Parts you have.

Body that has original paper number and stripe

                           Brass body mount.

Cast motor bracket with rear axle.

See if your axles look like ones in my pic below, they have a shorter amount of thead than most.

Good news, body can be repaired.

Bad news you may have to buy another Bandit to get the original parts you need. That is if you want it bone stock?

I found this one some time ago. Here is a link of of the restoration I did.

The decals are repo, try and keep yours intack. I now have tires on this one, but chose this pic as I thought the parts laid out would be helpful.

Hi all,

I'm restoring a super bandit. DO you have the same pic with all the parts for the super?

The front part of the chassis is difficult to find.

And I think wheels and tubes could be different.

Actually I found the motor.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jesus, Yes I have the info you need. I found these pics in my file.

Gene sells a nice repo body if you need it.

I made a tool to cut the body mount slots but not sure how we could make this work as you are in Spain.

Let me know if you need more?

Here are pics of the tool Larry and I made, and a sample of the slots it makes. As good as factory IMO.

The Bandits and the Renegade have the same body mount system shown here.

Thank you. Fortunately I have the mounts and the body. My main problem is to know about the front part of the chassis. I cannot find this particular in the market. I have one, but someone cut the arm, so I cannot use.

I don't know if this part of the chassis has the screws or not. I think the bandit hasn't screws for the flexi version of dynamic chassis, and the superbandit is the model that used it.

I'm trying to remember if the brass tubes to cover the shafts are brass in one version and steel in the other.

Jesus, those 2 pics of the Super Bandit show the Dyna Flex front axle mount, not easy to find, but they do show up.

The axle spaces are brass tubing and go like this. Wheel, spacer, nut, spacer then the Dyna Flex axle mounts.

I have the measurements' somewhere let me know and I will get them. Do you have the correct wheels?

To restore that car to OEM you pretty much need everything besides the body and brass body mount unfortunately.

Jesus, a few years ago I 3D modeled the front end for both the Bandit and the Renegade and those are available on Shapeways (https://www.shapeway...s-slot-car-shop). They are pretty cheap when printed in fiberglass reinforced plastic but the price jumps quite a bit if you want it 3D printed in aluminum. Also the finish of the 3D printed aluminum is pretty rough compared to the original die cast parts. You can sand down the rough finish and then soda blast it if you want something that looks original but it is a bit of work.

Here is a pic of my Renegade with the 3D printed front frame member (aluminum). This car really should be called a Phoenix as it truly has arisen from its own ashes. The front chassis member and motor hook are both 3D printed in aluminum while the spur gear is 3D printed in nylon impregnated plastic. It also has a repro body mount thanks to Martin and the motor was gift to me by Gene/ZR1. Gene also gifted me a body for it (not yet painted) which will have decals that Martin gave me. Oh, and one last details is that it has the Ortmann knife edge tires I mentioned above.

Martin, I STILL need to model wheels for both the Bandit and Renegade!

So I understand the normal bandit has similar chassis but no dynaflex.

My rear wheels are similar but not equals.

I'm going to check all my pieces and options and try to show both cars , bandit and super bandit and try to get a global idea.

Thanks to all.
