live streaming with internet interactive controllers, live stream to see your car,and the cost of track time would include the cost to rent various classes of cars(insurance policy as well incase you demolish the car) and paying marshals and pit crew.

This seems to be where things are heading or atleast it would make the tracks more profitable since it makes more racers available, the building aspect of racing could also be preserved by sending the car you build with backup motors tires etc.through the mail system.

The Amazon version of slotcar racing.

whats holding this concept up,I think its viable, all the technology is available and inexpensive enough.

A good IT person and computer hardware person with modest computer hardware.

come on guys lets move into the 21st century and now and start enjoying the few raceways still left in the world and through this 21st century concept lets create a new boom in the Hobby,(plus renting and selling rtr cars from the maufacturers and local builders which can keep if you buy it,soon to be added smell o vision so you can enjoy the smell of the race and the smells like moo juice, wintergreene, stp, burnt motors, lol

But seriously its doable,so why not do it?

It already exists. It's not especially popular. It suffers from the existing lack of universality of 1/32nd scale digital control wherein no two companies have digital control that talks to each other.

But, hey, if you're willing to invest the tens of thousands of dollars to attach a technological dead end to a niche hobby, be my guest. Don't ask me for one thin dime towards that fool's errand.

Its gonna happen, you know it,the future is here and this would be like getting in on gold at $50. an ounce,or getting home depot stock when they first opened, its your loss not mine,as a track owner, and the expense is much lower(do a survey to see the interest level just on slotblog or maybe the other blogs and or put the survey on youtube and facebook,if you could make a video of slotcar racing on a track and advertise do it from the comfort of your home, the interest would be through the roof, now youve encorporated video games into reality games, then it could go to r/c cars and boats and planes, with the possibility of being in person to,and of course with cutoff safetys, eventually it could go into 1/1 but obviously much more expensive since were looking at expenses of the sport(just as the era of autonomous vehicles are becoming reality.

so who has the testicular fortitude and forsight to be the next Bill gates?

I don't think this idea is at Bill Gates level, more like Mortimer Snerd  I submit.

Bruce, my opinion of watching slot cars on a video feed is it's like staring at an ant farm. I'd get an HO set, at least I could get my hands on the bugs. :clapping:

thats what they said  to edison and marconi,so jeff you are in the company of the nay sayers, which tend to be a majority, but innovation marches on anyway.

Did you laugh at self driving cars the idea when you first heard i did now that its become reality and ready to be implemented(and will save enormous amounts of life once perfected.

so remotely driving a dragster doesnt seem so out there now does it,so if children have driven slotcars before they drove 1/1 cars when they grew up and inspired some to race cars, now just like the race car video games, which children love, converting slotcar racing to internet interactive doesnt sound so unusual, yes the video feed must be lifelike and not like ants, not impossible to do.

Am I just find cromanian mentality in slotcars, open your minds guys to the jetsons generation.

we always used to look to innovate, maybe the cobwebs need to be wiped away, hey einstein was at a later age creating new hypothesis, dont let age shut your minds down, the nursing home doesnt have to be your reality, excite those neurons with all posibilities, lets take our wisdom and embrace any innovating possibilty and not poo poo it just help tweak it to make it work and help get it to implementation, dont be crtchity and bitter get excited about things, otherwise we'll have to call this blog site crotchity old retirement home complainers and hopelessness training slotblog.

I linked you to the proof that the technology not only exists, but is currently on sale.

I pointed out that it has not been a sales success.

That isn't "cro-magnon" mentality, that's saying that the paying public has already spoken on the idea of a wireless smart phone app for remotely controlling slot cars: they don't want it.

take this, one step farther, maybe getsomeone to create a video game of racing slots cars, you canstay at home int he tmiddkekso of the niughtm race your car, against a computer and keep slot racing alice.

Let me clarify this in readable english..

Why not create a video game of slot car racing.   Today video gaming is probably the most popular form of recreation in existence.   Create a video game of slot racing and keep slotting alive and grow it without having to move your body from home.  No more building cars.   No more fun and interaction with other humans at the track.

Oh wait, this has game has been created.   There you go Bruce, now you can race  at home by yourself, with no cars and no track to take up space!!

Get a blue tooth controller, use the cell phone network. This might not be as stupid as it first sounds.

attachicon.gifScreenshot_20180524-203124-810x1440.png no im talking about linking my computer to a commercial raceway and with big screen live streaming picture and linked hand controller and actually race live a slotcar on a track in the commercial raceway and have marshalls and pit crew, and either practice or entering a race.

Oh for Pete's sake...

I will say this in even smaller words.

Scalextric, the 1/32nd scale slot car company, which is a division of Hornby - a toy and hobby company ten times the size of either Parma or JK - developed an app that communicates with their digital slot cars so that you can use a smart phone instead of a controller.

It. Is. Not. Popular.

If the largest slot car company (or second largest, depending on if Carrera had a good year) can't sell the idea of replacing the wired controller with the wireless interface of a smart phone, which can be used remotely and offers all sorts of ginmicks and features, what makes you think that the handful of Group 7 wing car racers - who can't even agree on what sanction hosts the biggest race of the year - can make it a success?

funny matt but the idea was to link computers to the commercial tracks and be able through streaming race your car remotely, since we cant travel around the world to race slotcars and since there are so few raceways and they arent surviving ,now your remotely participating and its very close to being there, and it becomes a more viable business with paid marshals and pit crew and more revenue from rentals and or rtr purchases for practice or racing competition, sorry but children sitting in front their computers already not interacting with people atleast this is a hybrid of half virtual and interaction reality because there real cars and real people you would be competing with in the raceway and real people you are competing against more reality than warcraft but like warcraft has become huge  this can get huge especially if it branches off into r/c and 1/1 racing which children can advance into as they get older and of course both the r/c and 1/1 racing can have realistic steering wheel and gas pedal and brake pedal remote equiptment.

Bruce I think you should pitch your ideas to the under 16 year olds not us over 60s. Video driving games are great because they are getting more realistic. Slot cars are great because of our collective experiences with hands on design/building and face to face competition at tracks with history and atmosphere .

Please Bruce go pitch this to the kids this is not Vintage, Pro or Replica's. Help me out here Moderators isn't there a more appropriate place for this subject.

I don't believe remotely racing a slot car is anywhere close to being at the track with your friends talking, working on your car, having fun.  As I always say, "just go to the track and participate in some form".

You're right live is always better,I'm just realizing that the majority don't have tracks down the block or anywhere at all because the sport/hobby has waned and challenges like this are the mother of invention, and where there's a problem comes a solution,so theoretically if your Swaziland friend wanted to join you in and little friendly competition after he stumbled onto our blog site with this technology being implemented he could and through the wonder the Internet walla it's done, those new fangled contraption of those young whopper snappers will be the end of the world (that's what our grand parent have said are we now saying that, true isn't that).well I'm sure something will happen eventually like this,so if I don't do it, thru evolution something will be done by someone,I just want to benefit from it in my lifetime.
