Anyone have any luck making 64 pitch bronze gears by laser ?

This try nearly worked. It has 1 bad tooth on each one the same place at where the cut begins and ends.

Yes they tried making the initial and finish cuts off the OD .

It nearly worked! Darn! :dash2:

The one on the right is a standard Tjet gear and the middle one I lightened with a dental turbine. The left one was lasered. I am surprised how much the .045 bronze darkened from the heat and that is a concern.

Here is the application.

If I could make my own gears that would be so cool.

Then in the Fall a turret lathe so I can make wheel hubs and bushings in house. That just about leaves the motors made in China. All the rest will be made in AZ.

Any words of advice greatly appreciated.

Just change the drawing so the start point is away from any tooth edge

I would be interested to see a red line trace of your laser cut compared to the T jet gear.

They worked out nicely. only one tooth required an adjustment with a rubber wheel abrasive.

Testing so far is great!

Thank you for your support.

I'm not an HOer, Al, what's the purpose of the resistor in the left leadwire? Is it to reduce voltage?
