The race has been tentatively scheduled for July 1. The optional date is the 8th. With the 4th being on wednesday, we are not sure which date would be best so please comment on the dates so we can make a smart decision and get the most racers to the track. Racing will start about 3.

The big news is we are switching the focus of our Group F race to the new PHOENIX motor. For the first few races we are going with a spec gear ratio. Roger recommends 13-37, so that is what we are going to go with for a little bit until we learn about these motors and then we will make a decision about what we want to do. This will be the first race of the day and if we get enough FK racers we will run that next.

It looks like everyone has lost interest in the Retro Hawk motor.

I will be gone racing out of town till Sept Please post when and if you lift the Gear Restriction then I will think about returning ( I'm not into using a new, faster motor, and then choking it of it's speed makes no sense.....sorry)

If we already know that the motors will run cool on 14/15 pinions--as Jason says--WHY choke them down to be so much slower?  I thought Eric and some of the guys wanted to go faster?  Tim Wilkins posted that someone was using the Phx with 15 tooth and the motor was running cool in the 2.7 range.  If that is the case--why not go with at least a 14--then see how they last?  If we can get 2-3 or more races out of these--it would be a great cheap way to go racing faster!  Either way--I'll try to make the July race with a couple of cars.  Just firm the date up asap for planning.

I have never blown up a motor. I just recently purchased a new motor. Broke it in and raced it Sunday. It blew up running on orange lane. A rather punched lane. I think it was my 5th heat with no warning just after the heat started.

The guys who run 16 and 17T, are their motors running as fast at the end of the heat, as they are in the beginning?

We run 14-37 on my track, on 13.6V.

We run lap times about .2 slower than you guys, which is pretty good, since our Retro cars are more like .3 slower.

Could be a bad batch of motors we've run into.  My last two motors did not finish one race geared 15/37. The first motor threw a wire loose.  i haven't examined the second one closely yet.

Assume you all are running GrpF chassis, but what bodies and tires are you running on the King? What body length and height?

apparently the wires are not attached very well to the comm on the PS FK.

a thrown wire is usually the cause.

I haven't blow a motor yet, maybe I need to turn the screw to it a little more.lol

guess you have to find the right balance of speed and reliability.

a blown power unit is still sort of entertaining to watch

WJD: Bodies of choice are either the Koford Aerotec or the Camen Supro, long rib, dimpled. Both in .005 with .004 air control.

The following is for the 4.120 Koford chassis.

Body is 132 by 28, with the 132 cut parallel to the track. To cut the air control, measure from the front of the wheel arch forward 112mm. This will place the body correctly.

If you need something a bit longer you can try the CSC z28. All 3 of these bodies are virtually identical side profile.

You can also try the Red Fox Shadow.

Let's all remember the problems we have had with the motors we have used in the past. One became very inconsistent and had other problems and another started throwing winds. At the last race, 1 guy tossed wires on 2 motors, one in prerace practice and the other in the race and you can't rebuild these. So 2 dead soldiers on his workbench and a wasted investment.

So the thought here is lets make sure these run reliably at the manufacturers recommended gearing. If they don't, we can b....... about them to the manufacturer.

Yes, we all want to go faster, but baby steps with the new motor and then we can put screws to it.

Don't forget, we will also run an FK race at the next event.

The date? No complaints about the first yet, so unless I get a bunch of complaints between now and early tomorrow afternoon, I will confirm the date with Debbie when I get to the track on thursday.

Check back here friday afternoon for date confirmation

Weve been blowing up these motors for awhile now regardless of the gear ratio. Even on the break in on the track. The gear ratio limit is the phoenix recomended ratio thats why forest wants to run the race that way. It will show us if they live or not as a group not as a single motor. AkA ( fluke ).
What good is it to go out and fry a motor on the first heat or like i did a minute into heat 8. Lets give it a shot. Hopefully everything works out and we get to turn them up and see what they can do.

Hi everyone! I'd like to ask a question regarding your choice of motor for your Group F program. Why is a motor that is being sold by a party that damaged a long time manufacturer using his position in a national organization being so accepted with open arms? If a racer chose to race with JK motors knowing he would have some part of his anatomy handed to him be allowed to race JK?

I've invested a lot of time and money on JK and PS motors for the day I can get to BPR to race which may never happen but I'd like to know that my motor program isn't being locked out.

No offense but what are you talking about get to the point. Right now the only Motors that are allowed in GRP F are the PS4002FK or The New Phoenix no 1 wishes to run the slower JK RH anymore and when we tried to run them together it was a crash fest the RH were getting run over and no one wishes to bend there or someone else Car so we stopped this

jason

P.S if you mean the USRA and Roger aka the Phoenix yes I do have a Problem with any of our Racers that by Direct from him but what can you do BPR doesn't always carry everything we ask them to get but there's always other Tracks to get stuff from and lessen his profit If he was the only place to get it I wouldn't play with it Myself

You are not being locked out.

When it comes to retro hawk motors, the racers have spoken. Only 3 of us had cars ready to go at the last race and that is how it has been. Go back thru the race reports and look at how many showed up to race RH motors. I have and will always have a car in my box ready to race just in case.

As for the FK motors, we will run them as long as people show up to race them, but the general feeling is that these are going to go away also. The work that Forrest did with these cars and motors is what has saved the group f program at BPR, but it seems like it is time to move on. Me, I will race whats on the schedule, I don't care.

About saturdays event,

It's not anything organized. Just a bunch of guys want to test the new motors for both wing and the upcoming enduro and Debbie has agreed to have the track cleaned for us, so I am just out here trying to make sure everybody got the news and make sure we support their effort of supporting us by showing up and running on their nice clean race track. (talk about your run on sentences. Yikes!!!)

Bring your Phoenix motors, bring your FK's, bring your Retro Hawks, bring your wing cars, bring your LMP cars, learn how to drive around the rentals, it's gonna be a fine time for all.

If somebody wants to move this to facebook, great!!!!!

I will see you at the track.

No need to go to facebook. I just wanted to make sure that I won't "Have to" buy something that Roger sells. If I get run over running a motor that is on the IRRA approved list and used to be on the SCRRA approved list that's the fate I chose. Heck with my spinal deterioration I may never get to BPR so you guys have fun without me.

Craig talked me through the retro pro motor program which I thank him for his patience a wile back when working on retro pro stuff.

Your last post , you are talking about retro racing. This thread and the Phoenix motors have nothing to do with retro.

We are talking about wing cars and LMP(flexi's with step wing bodies)
