It’ll have power, lighting and contain everything for attending club night or national events, but it’s smaller and lighter than previous builds
I like the woodgrain on ply, not sure whether to oil (boiled linseed) or use Matt polyurethane

As it is there is 8.2kg (18.1lb). Still has to have hinges and clasps attached so might grow another pound?

That's excellent work! My back doesn't allow me have a box that big though. You look to be a young whipper snapper. No problem for you!

Very nice, maybe a set of wheels is in order? Maybe a dolly to fit it that is removable .Any pix of the track in the background?

Have the same problem. My box is a modified machinist tool box style - about 23 Lb empty. I bought a very light folding luggage dolly - eliminates the strain

Only pic I have I think, that’s about 1/2 the track. Takes up about 2/3 of a double garage. Built and owned by the guy who helped me do the pitbox

And naturally the flying "Kiwi" is there playing!! Is there any place on the planet he hasn't raced??
Oh yeah--the box looks GREAT!! You've hit a balance between too heavy and stocking all you need!!

Works well but still heavy, and has some space inefficiencies up top where the handle is
So made a second unit to sit below, which is more parts and workstation, but got sick of lugging both around along with too much kit

Steve.
A nice-looking box.
What thickness and type of plywood are you using for the construction?

Well, you could save a lot of weight if you made the car slots platforms out of hard balsa!!! You could do the drawers, too – that would be less than half the weight of plywood.

I’m OK with the weight as it is, but you are right, those nine chassis sliders come in at just under 1 kg (2 lb). Those alone are around 10% of the finished weight!!

Nice work, Steve! I use the Festool track saw for ripping sheet goods on the job also. Very accurate and it's way easier moving the saw on the work than the work on the saw.
Rock on!

9mm, interior - whatever was cheap and looked ok on one side. Wasn’t structural. About $39 sheet from memory

Garage lighting doesn’t do it any justice
Will screw it all together and wire it up on the weekend, maybe get a better pic then
