Fellow vintage enthusiast Philippe Point here in France found this very amusing "Driver's Ed" film from 1967. Thanks, PP+!

I think it's safe to say she never went on to a career in Hollywood...

So who recognizes the woman presenter placing the sash on the Junior Miss. She was Miss America, and then got into politics. Any guesses?

My guess is Deborah Bryant.

Dave,

She was actually a second runner-up in the 1959 pagent.

You might be confusing her with the promiscuous winner, Anita Mann.

I only remember her as being introduced as a winner. What I remember most was her rants about the on-stage antics of Jim Morrison during her speeches condemning public indecency. And her orange juice commercials.

From Wikipedia;

Bryant was born in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lenora A. (Berry) and Warren Bryant. After her parents divorced, her father went into the U.S. Army and her mother went to work, taking her children to live with their grandparents temporarily. When Bryant was two years old, her grandfather taught her to sing "Jesus Loves Me." She was singing at the age of six onstage on local fairgrounds in Oklahoma. She sang occasionally on radio and television and was invited to audition when Arthur Godfrey's talent show came to town.

Bryant became Miss Oklahoma in 1958 and was a second runner-up in the 1959 Miss America pageant at age 19, right after graduating from Tulsa's Will Rogers High School.

I was mistaken too, Dave.

The winner's name was actually Anita Lay.

'Anita Lay"?

Is that suppose to be a joke, Mike?

I remember her. She was married to Frito Lay. Chip Dip was best man. Chip's brother, Taco, was really mad because

he didn't get the nod. Father Pringle performed the service. Melba Toast was Bride's Maid. The reception was wondrous,

catered by Frenchy Fry. An affair to remember.
