I got given a very tired JK tire Truer this week. In pieces.
Actually I got given two. Well the second one wasn’t just for me -it’s working well and was donated by a racer from a nearby city for our Clubmembers use, but that’s another story. It’s working ok - just a coincidence.
The one I got in pieces was well flogged out. I rebuilt with new bearings and a good cleanup. I want it for occasional 2mm axle use rather than the 3/32 that’s used 99.9% of the time.
Sadly, I’ve found out my spare Hudy drum and 2mm tyre shaft don’t fit, the bearings have different spec. Hudy are 3x8x3 (mm) and JK are 1/8 x 5/16 x 1/8
So the shaft slops around - not very 'true'
A quick phone to the local hobby shops open today proved hopeless on replacement bearings, and I’m not even sure if I could shoehorn 8mm into a 5/16 hole anyway
So, then I had a 'Phenomenon' moment. Use the existing shaft, and just grind it down to size!
Out with the lathe, dremel and a grinding bit....voila!! Of course I did the 1/8th end so now can just swap it around and do 3/32....
Been a fruitful day in the end...
Now - where do I get a replacement motor for the JK from, this ones very noisy???

Check with a RC shop to see what they carry for motors or can order.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Yeah tried that Bill, all theirs are 50mm diameter. The JK is about 35mm

How much TIR in that chuck?
Not a chuck. Its a collet.
Runout is less than the difference between an axle hole and axle shaft.

Y’know I have checked all the dimensions and they seem fine, just rotation is wrong way. I need CW when viewed from the can end. This one is CCW

Nice looking motor but it’s still CCW at can end. I need CW otherwise all the rubber dust gets thrown skywards.

Steve,
I have a spare 12 volt motor that I bought from Jaycar as a replacement for my Hudy.
It is 35mm in diameter, has a .125" shaft, but runs CCW
When powered back to front, it still runs OK.
Want me to hold it for you for the Nats or is that too far away?
