There was some discussion in IRL about this recently so I thought I would throw it out to the masses.
Question: Of what is listed, what would you prefer as an award for a series or major race:

  • 3-D Trophy
  • Plaque with printed overlay
  • Olympic- style ribbon with medal gold/silver/bronze
  • None / use the award money for track bucks or merchandise prize

Please only pick ONE choice.
If you would say a couple words about your choice, that would be helpful.
At the end of 30 days, I will compile the answers and publish a summary.

Plaque, they don't take up any room when displayed.

For me, none of the above. I have a stack of plaques collecting dust, and all my older trophies are waiting to have the engraved parts removed before I toss them.  I would prefer a box plaque, something a bit fancier than the typical "participation" plaque.

3D trophy. I like the idea of winning something to showcase my success, like bowlers.

I like wall plaques, too, but apartment rules prevent hanging them on the walls.

When you tell a non-slot racer you won a big race, they ask "what did you get"?

Wall plaque- Easier to display, keep and transport.

I have boxes of trophies I won auto racing. Now that I am done with that, what am I going to do with them? Wall plaques are nicer,

because when I move I can hang them at the new place. But the best idea is Greg's for metal dash plaques that can be put on your

slot box. They go with you when you go to other events. Otherwise, give the money to the track. They need it most.

Box plaques are fine.

slot car racing is like life itself the reward is the joy in the journey taken...Donna Hubble had a bunch of "thanks for coming" stickers that became legendary...donate the money to the track

for hosting the race....

Plaques are easiest to store and still provide a tangible remembrance of the particular event.

If awards are absolutely necessary, I would support the use of Track Bucks. They help racers replenish tires, axles, gears -- those things needed to run the next race. Plus, the items are awarded at full price, while the track only pays wholesale for those items.

Second would be box plaques. They're flat and light, and they can be good for your ego when others see them.

As for plaques, trophies, etc., they take up needed space and just collect dust.
