This sounds real fishy to me:

Suddenly seven rare Lancer and Du-Bro clear bodies have appeared on eBay supposedly from "original" Lancer and Du-Bro molds!

The asking price is $19.95 but the quality is extremely poor!

LINK

Mid-America/Roger Schmitt is offering these and frankly, I am surprised.

However I did purchase an original Gamma Ray body from them a year ago and it was warped badly out of shape, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised!

Some of the selection is shown below! There are so far seven different bodies offered.

I was lucky to get a TrueScale Ferrari P4 last week and it fantastic.

M-A has P4s listed also. Who knows where these came from? The dune buggies??? Gene has the only mold for that body as far as I know and his is perfect!

Roger, yes, they do. Why all of a sudden now?

Please explain as this is important when stating original molds but showing poor quality bodies.

Lancer was known for their impeccable quality! Who ever pulled these bodies for you did a poor job... sorry. Thus my doubts.

Although I have had many good dealings with you for years, the Gamma Ray fiasco surprised me.

Matt,

See the photo, dune buggy is there. Sure wish I could make a mold copy off the original or pull a body off of my press,

The bodies are not poor quality. Maybe if I have time later this week I will get the photo tent out and all my photography lighting equipment and take some high quality pictures.

For now you get the zoomed in too much and lit by overhead fluorescent bulbs versions.

This "the Gamma Ray fiasco surprised me." It surprises me, too. Was the body listed as being as a new perfect body?

Most times I take many pictures when I list vintage items. Mmany people thank me for taking all the angles of the bodies when listing vintage stuff.

Why are these bodies available now? I sold my soul, but many people say I do not have a soul, so no big deal.

The Arco magnet set I got from you was not described as mismatched polarity (both are the same polarity), but I don't think that justifies that they are mismatched.

The buyer has to trust that the seller will accurately describe and fully disclose the condition of the item. Apparently, that doesn't seem to be a concern of yours.

Roger,

Lancer bodies and More: I am not sure that better photos will show these flaws any less. Look at the bubbling on the Hornet windscreen.

Gamma Ray: I don't remember what the eBay ad said much anymore except "vintage."
Did not say it was perfect but did say it was NOS. That did not clue me in to the actual condition.
I will look for that photo if I have it.

Over the years I have bought a lot from you, especially before your divorce, After that then eventually you came back strong again.
You have always had great rare items that few others have had, but that one stumped me and I sent an inquiry to that sales post where I bought it from but never heard back at that time.

I also buy very little from you since except six used Parma Rental cars that were as exactly as described.

Water under the bridge now...

Max, your link doesn't work.

When I searched eBay for them, the only Lancer bodies I saw were HOs pulled by REHCo.

Bill,

This is probably my fault, as I merged two threads David had posted.

Max, when I searched on eBay, I searched for "Lancer bodies." Had I known to search for "Genuine Lancer bodies" & "Vintage Lancer bodies", I would have found them. Thanks! :)

Roger,

If you're still here, I quickly took this photo with my phone and a black mat. Seems to work better than any other color.

BTW, this is an original Hornet and one I purchased years ago from Jim Honeycut at Magnetech Raceways. That one came from a distributor that got it from REH using the original mold that you now have.

Bill, the link I gave should work pretty much forever for that seller's eBay listings, so long he doesn't change his eBay ID.

When I click on the link in post #11, all of the Lancer bodies come up on the first page for me. (I just checked it again.) Is that not what you see?

These Lancer bodies sold with the black nd lavender(purple) header cards were pulled by Bob Haines' father, Al.

Greg, when I saw the link in post #11 was for 4,427 items, I only looked at the first page. Since page #1 was a mixture of bodies and other items, I assumed all the other pages were, too. I don't have a problem with this link, but I don't plan to retain this thread in the eBay forum once new posts to it diminish. If we want to keep it permanently, it should be moved elsewhere.

Bob Haines' father was Delbert Vance Haines, and went by 'Del.' I don't think he ever pulled Lancer bodies.

I received my Lancer Ferarri 330 P3 today from Mid-America and am quite pleased with the quality.  This body definitely does not deserve the trashing it received when it was first listed for sale.  A little "distortion" on the top of the front hood panel is all I've seen but I think it will "disappear" once it is painted.  The rest of the body, glass and details really look good.  The part of it that rolls under on the sides and the at the grill is really, really good and deep; far superior to another Lancer P3 re-pop that I have.  Thickness is consistent and good for a replica/vintage build.  I'm looking forward to attempting to build a replica of Cukras' 2nd Car Model race winner with this body.

Don, do you have a copy of Phillip Niyazi's Cukras chassis build article from scratchbuilt.com?

I don't Bill but I'll look it up.  The guide I am going to use is the build article Jairus posted here on SlotBlog.  In fact, Jairus sent me an extra set of his P3 decals that I've saving all this time for this project.

Don, they're the same chassis. Niyazi buiilt his in 2003, Jairus built the Slotblog car in 2007. Phillip Niyazi doesn't build as many chassis, but his workmanship is in the same class as Rick Thigpen's, Jairus's, & Steve Okeefe's.

In preperation to get back to my bench, I placed an order for a few of these bodies being pulled from the original molds.  I was hoping that the blems seen in the above pics were due to dust/debri on the molds.  I am happy to say that no matter what the issues may have been, my bods are not showing any signs of any blems.  I was more than pleased with the Banshee bods I recieved, nothing like the one that I purchased from another supplier that is twisted too bad to attempt to straighten!  I really have no explanation as to why the pics shown on the listings are so bad, but I'm happy as hell that the bods I recieved are not!  Thanks Roger for providing these to us once again!  BTW, my order was delivered in 2 days!

"Pictures are worth a thousand word." Since the bodies are now pulling better, Roger should replace the old photos with new. :)

Don, they're the same chassis.

Sure but no two builders do things the same way so it'll be good for comparison.  Thanks.....
