Question for those of you who use a tumbler to clean up a new chassis, what media do you use, and why do you like it?

I use ceramic media. The Thumbler's Tumbler that I purchased, however, didn't have a barrel that was long enough to fit a fully-constructed chassis, so I went to the grocery story and found a plastic jar with a screw-on lid. Works well, if you need a larger barrel.

I just got a large drum Thumbler's as well. I use ceramic media that is about the dimensions of a cigarette butt. I've only done four or five, but they come out looking better than new.

Thanks, Jim. I did a search for tumbling on here but it didn't show up for some reason...

Glad I could help, Greg. As you can see, tumblers raise a diverse conversation -- from the media, soaps, distilled water, metals that can be tumbled, etc.

Good luck, and we look forward to seeing some of your chassis on display on these pages soon.

I'm scared to try. I had a bad experience trying to launder money and ruined two wallets. Can't see why people think laundering money would be a good idea. I think I might have gotten hypnotized by the drum the only time I watched a tumbler.

Thumlers Tumblers---you can see the best one for the job right here.  The media in the pic is ceramic--and a good size.  Then I use simply water and a tiny amount of Dawn soap---works like a charm!!!

I just picked up a Model-B tumbler at an estate sale this weekend. My question is how many pounds of ceramic media do I need to order?
Thanks
Thom
