I know some of you do not have Facebook accounts so it would not be possible to follow along as Gary Gerding refurbishes HMS Speedways & Hobbies (Ohio) American King Track.

Hope you enjoy the pix supplied by HMS - please direct questions to HMS or Gary Gerding.

PLEASE start another topic if you wish to discuss the specifics of how this track was refurbished, the history of the track or track refurbishing techniques in general. THANK YOU.

This is the same track that was first rebuilt by a Waxahachie, Texas bodyman when it was located down there, right?

I recall when the original Modelville Hobby Soveregn at Framingham, MA required the same type of fix going into its bank. That was 1970 or 71.

Is Gary re-braiding in a full run, taking it apart to braid  each section, or is he doing pass thru patches at each joint?

I think the questions put out were for anyone that might know the answers, rather than being directed to any particular individual.

I heard last night that the HMS tracks were owned by Tony Stewart. :)

The pictures of the long straight show what appears to be the original surface under the top surface that removed the dips.  That is interesting if anyone ever wanted to restore this 50 yr plus track to its original build.

That would be like Pete Rose inventing a time machine, so he could go back to 1986, and place a few more bets on baseball.

I spoke with Cap briefly, he said the track is now awesome and very fast. That's great news! Now if HMS could get some sort of well run club schedule with set classes.. We'll see..

Almost looks like the newer surface has been widened, new lanes look like they are shifted over and don’t match up to the older surface.
