Wonder if Cheater is going to get some of the outer edge of it. Tough season coming up, if all the storms brewing develop into full storms.

New path has the storm passing right over my house when it reaches the middle part of SC. Time to head for the hills!

Looks like this thing is going to come right over the top of the "Doghouse Raceway" outside of Columbia.

So far, it looks like we're only going to get some rain, maybe a lot.

I was wondering. The newly forecast track puts it much closer to you. Man, I just can't imaging how you guys are feeling. I mean, we get tornadoes, but they are over in a blink of an eye compared to the extended time a hurricane stays in the area.
The best of luck to you all.

The water looks like the real disaster. This time it looks like some kind of record amount of water and flooding. We have seen that all over the US the last couple years, lot of different weather patterns all over.

I have a niece that lives in SC. Her fear is flooding, falling trees from tornadoes, and power outages. At times outages can be up to weeks.

Prayers for everyone to remain safe through this storm!! If you need to evacuate – do it with plenty of time!! Looks like heading north is the best option – it's turning more south!

Hopefully those who need to evacuate have already done so - by now, it's probably too late.
Tim, these storms always eventually hook North and East.
To say it has wobbled only means the eye forecast prediction has changed slightly.
To give blanket advice to evacuate in a certain direction is poor advice, unless it is made based on a specific location.
The worst weather always occurs on the northeast side of the eye. Advising people to evacuate north may well be advising them to go into harm's way. The eye eventually always end up going north and east.
Running scared only works if you run in the correct direction. I'd be advising people in the Carolinas to go towards the FL area. Exactly the opposite of what you suggested, Tim.
Go too close to the Gulf Coast and you'll possibly be having to deal with Isaac next week.

Somehow tracks seem to attract roof leaks so it looks like you guys better get a huge tarp to cover that awesome race track!

Thanks to all for the concern about the coming storm – and for Jay's special advice to protect the track. She's a fine one, Jay. That she is.
We've gone through this drill many times in past years. Usually, by the time the storm reaches inland (Columbia/Lexington/Gilbert), the winds have dropped below hurricane force. Yet these strong, persistent winds, coupled with a seemingly never-ending deluge of pouring rain, can soften the topsoil and cause trees that have weakened root systems to fall. I've also witnessed vinyl siding being ripped off homes in the past. Nothing like a sharp-edged piece of hard vinyl flying down the street at 40 mph to get your attention.
To all those in harm's way – especially my Doghouse racing buddies –be safe, take no chances, and I look forward to racing with you again on the other side of Florence.

Jim,
Did you evacuate to somewhere else or are you hunkering down in place?

"Doghouse" racers don't evacuate - we just keep on squeezing the trigger !!

and squeezing the trigger harder than usual.
"Squeezing the trigger"... sounds like code for something non-slot car related. LOL.

Nah. I'm working today at my position in Augusta, then headed home a little early to comfort my dogs through the coming winds and rain. Funny, but a simple clap of thunder makes my giant German Shepherd into a little baby.
As stated earlier by my Doughouse buddies, we're just hunkering down. Prepare for the worst; hope for the best – to rely on an extremely over-used cliché. As for squeezing the trigger, well... umm... no plans at the moment.
According to the morning news, it appears the storm has shifted again by wobbling to the north. it might pass just slightly north of Columbia, which means we get the southwestern quadrant. Lots of rain, with sustained winds around 30-40 MPH. Still enough to cause some major problems.
Today, my heart goes out to my former cohorts in the emergency response field. This is the first time in about 15 years that I have not had to sit at the state's Emergency Operations Center, monitoring activities and talking to reporters about impending dangers such as breached earthen dams, strong winds, and downed power lines. Kind of a strange feeling to be on the outside this time.
