Race report will come probably tomorrow. As a quick update, our race yesterday at FTH had our best turnout of the year with 36 total entries in 3 classes. Herman took the Can Am while Jim took pro-coupes and F-1. With the large turnout, this was a good time to discuss future planning. Here are the subjects touched upon in the driver's meeting and in following discussions.
Remaining races 2018:
- October 21 @ Motown. Can Am, Stock Car on Hillclimb, F-1 on Korkscrew (note: Motown will be closed on Oct 20)
- November 18 @ FTH: Can Am, Stock car on Purple Angel, F-1 on Dragon.
Raceway Schedule 2019:
- We will continue to alternate between FTH and Motown. The two-track schedule has helped to promote growth.
- No races in December and due to my ski show schedule, no races in January.
Car Classes:
- Continuing with Can Am and F-1 every month, Stock Cars and Pro Coupes alternate.
- I will no longer schedule the 1/32 cars. As fun as they are, there is just no room on the schedule.
Equipment Rules:
- No planned changes but the rules will be updated as necessary to include some recent approvals.
Four race days:
- We will plan a couple of these for the summer months. They will be one race each for all four classes.
- We may try an earlier opening of the track and an earlier start of the racing in order to make these days less rushed.
Switchup races:
- We have always done these races as a regular thing where F-1s and Stock Cars run on the alternate tracks from usual.
- Most of the more experienced guys like these races (myself included)
- However, with a lot of newer racers, it has become a little problematic for some to get their car setups changed over.
- We seem to have Three options here................
- Continue as we have been meaning two classes switch at each switchup meet
- Eliminate switchups altogether
- Cut down from two classes in switchup to one class.
Switchup considerations:
- We will formally adopt the Retro Hawk motor for any F-1 race on a banked track
- We may try a Can Am race on a flat track with Mini Brute motors.
- Stock Cars on flat tracks are very popular and may become a little more regular.
These subjects and possibly others will be topics of continuing discussions.
